Marker Cannon for an arm not No. 1 strength for QB [5:34 AM]
Houston Chronicle reports: 'For instance, Bledsoe might be more inclined to try to fit a ball into tight coverage than a quarterback with lesser arm strength such as Tom Brady, the man who took Bledsoe's job in New England. Sometimes, the result is an interception instead of a sack or an incomplete pass. Other times, the result is a big play that few quarterbacks could have made.'

Marker Texans' expectations on rise [5:33 AM]
Houston Chronicle reports: 'For example, we have every right to ask the offense to move the football with a modicum of efficiency and consistency against the Bills at Reliant Stadium this afternoon. It should be able to score touchdowns (plural) and accumulate an acceptable sum of total yards because Buffalo has yet to surrender fewer than 27 points in any of its five games while being burned for more than 40 twice.'

Marker Rested Texans await Bills [5:32 AM]
San Antonio Express News reports: 'Still, when Houston (1-3) plays host to the Buffalo Bills (2-3) at noon today in Reliant Stadium, the Texans believe they have a good shot at tying the mark for the fastest expansion team to two wins.'

Marker Recharged Bledsoe Could Teach Jets a Few Things [5:32 AM]
New York Newsday reports: 'Buffalo, just 3-13 last season, could match that win total today with 10 games to go. Loath as he is to take the credit, Bledsoe has allowed, "It's nice to be wanted." Again.'

Marker Bledsoe faces Texans and former teacher Palmer [5:31 AM]
AP reports: '"It's fun personally to work with a guy who thinks he has something to prove," Bills coach Gregg Williams said. "He's on a mission. He wants to make sure everyone understands he's not done playing this game and he can play at a high level for quite a while."'

"With the support of the Busch Series and Frank Cicci Racing, Hunter's Hope will reach more people than ever before," Kelly said. "Teams are starting to focus on trying to shut them down, but they're still catching the ball and making plays. "I have supreme confidence in those two guys right now. I'll take some chances throwing the ball to them that I wouldn't take if they were other guys."'

Marker Posey a steal at LB [6:12 AM]
Houston Chronicle reports: 'Utilizing anaconda-like strength with the quick-strike ability of a cobra, Posey has charmed his way to a team-high 3 1/2 sacks -- half a sack more than his total for the first four years of his career.'

Marker Texans summary [6:11 AM]
Houston Chronicle reports: 'Texans coach Dom Capers and Bills coach Gregg Williams share a common bond as head coaches who were defensive coordinators, so Capers can sympathize with Williams, whose Bills have the 26th-ranked defense in the league, and have allowed an average of 36 points per game, the highest total in the NFL.'

Marker College Rivalry: Tennessee Volunteers (Trey Teague) at Georgia Bulldogs (Jonas Jennings) [4:40 PM] reports: Jennings: "That's a no brainer. Georgia! Last two years we've beat Tennessee. We're going to keep it going. I'm definitely going to follow the game. We're looking to beat them by three touchdowns. If you talk to my Georgia boys tell them I said go out there and play ball."

Marker Tops Game Ball of the Week: Peerless Price Q&A [2:46 PM] reports: "Eric (Moulds) has helped me a lot along the way. He's been a tremendous help. This year alone, Drew Bledsoe and Kevin Gilbride (have helped me). Drew from the standpoint of having confidence in me and believing in me. Coach Gilbride for the schemes and all the things he allows me to do."

Marker Following Favre: Deals Still Have Impact [2:45 PM] reports: Ten years ago, Ron Wolf pulled off one of the best trades in NFL history -- acquiring Brett Favre for the Green Bay Packers for a first-round draft choice. Meanwhile, everybody says "there are no more big trades in the NFL anymore." Well, the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins certainly would not agree with that theory. Trades that these clubs engineered this year are paying handsome dividends.

Buffalo News reports: '"It's been tough because I never know how much I'm going to play from week to week," said Newman, who made 189 tackles and 11 1/2 sacks the last two years. "Obviously, having just nine tackles is not good. But I can't control the decisions of the coaching staff. I just have to take advantage of the snaps I do get and maximize those opportunities to the best of my ability."'

Marker Moore might play with broken hand [9:11 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"It's one of those things where it's going to take time to heal, so we're kind of playing it by ear," Moore said after practice Thursday. "The willingness to play is certainly there. The question is whether I can go out, physically do my job and be able to help the team rather than be a liability."'

Marker Bills hope to pick off futility mark [5:20 AM]
D and C reports: 'There have been 5,145 pass attempts through the first five weeks of the NFL season and 167 have been intercepted. But none by Buffalo. Zero. Zip. Nada.'
