Marker Hughes on a mission; Striker's chances diminishing [1:54 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'I don’t think Eric Striker is making the final 53. He’s been passed by several other outside LBs as far as practice reps and Saturday night he played the fourth fewest snaps on defense (9) and was only on the field for 5 special teams snaps. He just doesn’t have the length needed to play OLB at the NFL level, especially in Rex Ryan’s defense, and he’s not stout enough to move inside. He’d be the perfect practice squad player because he will go all-out every day and make others better, but I’m not sure if he’ll even have a look there since the Bills probably won’t feel he can replicate other defenders they will see on any given week, and that they just won’t view him as fitting in, so therefore not worth developing.'

Buffalo News reports: 'Buffalo fans, desperate for success after 16 years of failure, have become more lenient when it comes to player behavior, as if character doesn’t matter compared to production on the field. I’ll say it again: It matters big time when dubious characters can’t get on the field because they’re smoking pot or causing trouble.'

Marker Bills are new reality series for Biermann [1:54 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '“I understand the big parts of the defense,” Biermann said, “and I’ll get the little ones as we go along.”'

Marker It’s not a given new stadium would be better than New Era Field [1:53 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'A new stadium is inevitable. But what will a new stadium do for the average fan? Fewer seats? Yep. Better parking? No. Better tailgating downtown? I don’t think so. At least some modest seat licenses? For sure. Higher ticket prices? A hundred percent. There will be wider concourses and more gourmet food. There will be a dome. That’ll be the big selling point. (Maybe we don’t realize what we’re missing, but none of my friends complain about sitting outside.)'

Marker Not all Bills 'family members' created equal [1:47 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'However, I did find general manager Doug Whaley’s explanation of the events a bit shallow. Dareus was referred to as a “family member” while Williams was given the ugly step-child treatment, even though their transgressions were quite similar in immaturity and stupidity.'

Marker Marcell Dareus leaves Bills to enter rehab facility [1:46 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Dareus, of course, was suspended one game in 2015 for violating the substance abuse program, then missed a test recently and that triggered a four-game suspension. Clearly, Dareus has some off-field problems, and it seems that given the fact he can’t play the first four regular-season games, the timing of his choice to enter rehab is a good one.'

Rochester D&C reports: 'Williams, a second-year pro considered a key to the team's running game, was going to miss the first four games of the season anyway for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.
