Marker Could '64 Bills have won 'Super Bowl' against Browns? [8:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"This is all hearsay and all talk," said Bills Hall-of-Fame guard Billy Shaw. "I've said it many times before of the AFL champions prior to the Super Bowl, that was probably the team that could have really played with NFL champions. I'll say this: We matched up really good with them. I'd have loved to have had that opportunity."'

Marker NFL revenue distribution key topic these days [8:41 AM]
Dallas Morning News reports: 'Wilson insists he isn't asking for any handouts to survive. His Bills do play in an 80,000-seat stadium. But he does expect his fellow owners to accept the reality that a team in Dallas has greater opportunities and potential for revenue than a team in Buffalo. "I don't expect Jerry Jones to take money out of his pocket and say, 'Here, Wilson, take this,' " Wilson said. "But I do expect him to take a dollar out and say, 'Here, come play me next week, will you?' "'

Marker Injured tight ends eye training camp [9:21 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"They're right where we anticipated them, I think maybe a little ahead," Mularkey said. "But that's something you don't want to test it too much. You don't want them to get any setbacks. But I feel like they're on schedule."'

Marker Inside slant [6:50 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: 'Losman said it's important he focus on throwing to the healthy targets and not worry about who isn't in the lineup. "We can't worry about injuries and who we're throwing to and who we're not," he said. "Trafford's doing a great job and Ryan Neufeld, those are the guys I'm throwing to a lot now."'

Marker Notes, quotes [6:48 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: 'A half-dozen veterans skipped at least the final day of Organized Team Activity workouts at Ralph Wilson Stadium. That still meant some 80 players did take part, including QB J.P. Losman who wouldn't dream of skipping. He's been handed the starting job and the work he's putting in during May should make things run smoother come July. "Anytime you get a chance to come out here with the receivers, especially organized and running plays that we are going to run during the year, it's very critical," Losman said. "I'm very fortunate for the guys here that we're getting our timing down now."'

Marker Bledsoe finding Parcells treats vets differently [8:55 PM]
AP reports: 'Buffalo, which came one win short of the playoffs last season with Bledsoe, handed over the starting job to youngster J.P. Losman without an on-field competition. Bledsoe is driven to prove the Bills made the wrong decision, and also reward the faith Parcells has in him.'

Marker Maguire a Moorman Admirer [3:03 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '"One record I'm not proud of is having the most punts in Bills history," said Maguire. "That will tell you what kind of crappy teams I played on."'

Marker Giants not in sharing mood [10:24 AM]
Bergen Record reports: 'Buffalo owner Ralph Wilson has been leading the charge for the sharing of those revenues. Wilson cites potential competitive imbalance, even though the league has a salary cap to level the playing field when it comes to signing players. Mara indicated some teams spend as much as 70 percent of their revenues on player costs, while other teams spend as little as 30 percent. That can impact on other team expenditures such as the coaching staff and building facilities, which could entice free agents to join the franchise.'

Marker Cameo roles challenge 'backer backups [8:53 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"It's a big challenge being a backup because as competitors we want to be on the field," said Haggan, Fletcher's understudy at middle linebacker. "But to get on the field we have to go through London Fletcher or Jeff Posey and Takeo Spikes. We know that we can play. We just have to be patient because our time will come."'

Marker Reich takes his game to higher level [8:53 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"I always tell people that in football I learned a lot of things," Reich said during a celebration-related conference call Thursday. "Two key things were preparation and leadership. And essentially what we do as a ministry is prepare leaders for the church."'

Marker Titans owner Adams confirms interest in Henry [5:24 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: '"I don't know exactly how deep it goes with Mr. Adams but I don't know if it's a matter of pulling the trigger, it's just are we hitting the right target?" coach Mike Mularkey said when asked about the Titans' overtures for Henry. "If it's the right target, the trigger will be pulled but obviously it hasn't yet."'

Marker New Bills RB comfortable with backup role [10:27 PM]
AP reports: '''I have no problem with that,'' said Lee, a free agent who signed with the Bills earlier this month. ''I'm a team person and I just want to win, and this will really be the first opportunity for me to show what I can do.'''

Marker TE's Campbell and Euhus Progressing [9:55 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '"(The first minicamp) was more basic," said Losman. "We've thrown in a lot this time. We put a lot of new things in (to the offense) and it's making it a little bit difficult but then again, you're finding out what you are good at and what you aren't. It was a lot thrown at us but it was also fun at the same time."'

Marker Campbell And Euhus Are Improving [5:25 PM]
WGR-AM reports: 'The three rehabbing from surgery all worked out with the trainers. They are Mark Campbell, Tim Euhus and Kevin Thomas. Mularkey says Euhus and Campbell are maybe a little ahead of schedule and the plan is to have them full speed by training camp.'

Nashville Tennessean reports: 'With Titans General Manager Floyd Reese currently out of town, talks with the Bills will probably be on hold for a bit. Henry has only has one year remaining on his current contract with the Bills, so the Titans would likely have to extend his deal as part of a trade.'

Marker If Bills' owner Wilson is patient, he might get his wish [5:23 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: 'But Wilson wonders how the Bills remain competitive if, under a future labor accord, big-revenue owners such as Dallas' Jerry Jones or Washington's Daniel Snyder not share portions of locally generated money. After hearing what Tagliabue had to stay after this week's annual spring meetings he may not have to worry.'

Marker Henry stuck [5:34 AM]
NotJustAGame.com reports: 'The Buffalo organization also isn’t stupid. They know that if they let Henry sit, he is going to waltz out of Buffalo like he never had been there. So they might as well get what they can for him now, before they let him walk away empty handed. A third round draft pick may be the best offer they can get, but who knows who that pick could end up meaning to the Bills franchise.'

Marker Familiar faces in sports world enliven scene [5:33 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Bush also recognized another, more famous, western New York athlete: former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly. Kelly, who is becoming a regular at big Republican events in New York, attended the speech because he said he wanted his 10-year-old daughter, Erin, to meet the president. "It was definitely a treat," said Kelly, explaining later that he has no immediate plan to run for office, despite speculation to the contrary.'

Marker A Rheem Dream [11:03 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'Rheem was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award (nation's top kicker) in 2004 and is considered very accurate and consistent with good mechanics. League scouts said he just lacked superior leg strength and couldn't get top-notch distance or hang time on kickoffs. But Rheem was 13-of-15 on field goals as a senior including 2-for-2 from 50-yards plus.'

Marker Jets' stadium could hit Bills in the wallet [8:57 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'What does this mean for the Bills? As you may have read two weeks ago, owner Ralph Wilson is concerned about where the NFL is headed. The collective bargaining agreement with the players' association ends after the 2007 season. The players are seeking a share of heretofore untapped revenues, revenues teams aren't mandated to share among themselves. Franchises at the high end of the scale are opposed to divvying up the individual pots. That means that in the next CBA the Bills likely would take a heavier hit than the teams making more money. And that makes it less attractive for the Bills to remain in Buffalo when it comes time to settle Wilson's estate.'

Marker Bills WR Parrish on his first pro football trading card [7:23 AM]

Sports Business Journal reports: '"Now the league is riding a crest of popularity, and I am afraid -- and I said that to the owners down in Atlanta (at a meeting on April 19) -- that some of the new owners who have come in the last 10 or 15 years don't know what some of the clubs went through 25, 30, 45 years ago," Wilson said during an interview in his sparse office adjacent to Ralph Wilson Stadium.'
