Who's To Blame? [8:50 AM]
BillsDaily.com reports: Who is responsible for the Bills losing their last 6 games? Who is responsible for the team being 17-34 since 2001? Who is responsible for ensuring the word ‘Bills’ is never mentioned with the term ‘playoff team’? Let’s take a look at the candidates for the title of scapegoat king/bringer of weekly indigestion.
Bills vs. Jets Preview [5:48 AM]
BillsDaily.com reports: The Bills and Jets are two teams going in opposite directions so far this season. The Bills are one of the league's biggest disappointments at 0-3 and need to right the ship quickly. It will be a very hard job to do at the Meadowlands this week.

Players Need to be Held Accountable [3:28 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'The players need to be held accountable for their actions. You hate to take your best players off the field, but you have to send a message. You can't play stupid football. Stupid football will make you lose every time, it doesn't matter if you're the most talented team in the league. If you don't play smart, you're not going to win. That's been the biggest issue so far. Until they get this problem cleaned-up it's going to remain a serious issue. Obviously you hate to take certain guys off the field, but if you have repeat offenders that just aren't getting the message then maybe, you need to bench them. Hopefully it won't come to that, but if you're able to damage a guy's ego he may think long and hard about what he's doing on the field and it may help to fix some of those mistakes.'
HS Football "Coach of the Week" - Week 5 [3:27 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'Coach Mike Kane of Olean High School has been named the Buffalo Bills high school football “Coach of the Week” for the fifth weekend of the 2004 season (October 1-2).'
Game Notes: Bills vs. Patriots [3:27 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'The Bills currently rank 1st in the AFC in both kickoff returns and kickoff coverage.'
What these Bills lack is discipline [12:39 PM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'But that doesn’t change the fact Bills’ players lack a sense of fear. Just because the head coach doesn’t get in their face doesn’t mean there can’t be consequences for dumb or careless play.'
Injuries mounting in Bills' secondary [12:38 PM]
The Sports Network reports: '"I think that has a huge effect on your secondary when you have a guy like Lawyer Milloy out and Troy Vincent," head coach Mike Mularkey said. "We understand we're young back there, and we got to make sure that we're putting these guys in a scheme that they're confident. We know if we're sitting there and we're guessing, "Do we think he can do it?' he's probably doing the same thing. We've got to just be smart about how we scheme with the younger guys."'
WR Lee Evans Needs Your Help [12:38 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'Your vote for Evans can be placed on NFL.com beginning Tuesday morning and ending on Thursday afternoon. The winner will be announced Thursday afternoon on NFL.com.'
Bills sit through replay of Sunday's defeat [12:37 PM]
Niagara Gazette reports: '“Everyone has to be accountable to each other,” Buffalo offensive lineman Ross Tucker said. “When everyone is watching, you’re held accountable.”'
Bills lose Vincent [8:53 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The Bills are not sure about the status of center Trey Teague, who also left Sunday's game with a knee injury. Coach Mike Mularkey said he didn't know the results of a magnetic resonance imaging exam done on Teague's left knee Monday. Mularkey thinks it may only be a sprain but isn't sure if it is severe enough to keep Teague off the field.'
Bills fill this bar's whine cellar [8:52 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"It's going to get worse, too," Rex said. "Donahoe's first draft class was his best. Guys like Aaron Schobel and Jonas Jennings were value players in their first contracts. What's coming behind them? Josh Reed isn't value. Mike Williams isn't."'
McGahee says he'll patiently wait for turn [8:51 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"You just roll with the punches," he said Monday. "It's a business. No spot is guaranteed to you, you know what I mean? My time will come. I'm not going to rush it. I've waited this long. I can wait as long as it takes."'
Jets keeping Bills in sights [8:50 AM]
New York Daily News reports: 'They beat the Dolphins (0-4) Sunday in Miami, 17-9. Now the Bills (0-3) and the 49ers (0-4) are coming to town, followed by an Oct. 24 showdown against the Patriots (3-0) in Foxboro. Such possibilities. Oops, forgot the gag order.'
Edwards not looking ahead [8:49 AM]
White Plains Journal News reports: 'There's already talk about the possibility that the Jets, who host 0-3 Buffalo this Sunday and 0-4 San Francisco the following week, might still be undefeated when they face the Patriots in Foxboro in three weeks. The Pats (also 3-0) host 0-4 Miami Sunday, but have a challenge the following week when they host 3-0 Seattle. "How about Buffalo?" Edwards shot back when asked about the chance for a clash with the Pats on Oct. 24. "That's who we play. That's all I'll comment on is Buffalo."'
Clash of unbeatens likely [8:48 AM]
Middletown Times Herald Record reports: 'First up, the 0-3 Bills, who've scored a whopping 37 points in their first three games, have a rookie coach and half their secondary on the shelf. Don't see the Jets' first loss coming this weekend.'

The Bills Lose Vincent To Knee Surgery [8:46 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'The Bills watched film as a team for the first time staying over an hour extra. Mularkey says it's useful to do once in awhile so players are accountable to each other.'
Bills to be without CB Vincent for two weeks [8:45 AM]
The Sports Network reports: 'Vincent hurt his right knee Sunday after pushing Patriots wideout Bethel Johnson out of bounds on a reception on New England's opening drive of the game. Vincent was immediately carted to the locker room and did not return.'
Bills Fans Still Waiting [8:44 AM]

Why to watch: Bills-Jets [8:43 AM]
The Sporting News reports: 'Are the Jets really this good? Are the Bills as bad as their record would lead you to believe?'
McGee may move into a starting job [5:04 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: '"I feel like I'm ready. The only thing I need to work on is the little things. Don't do my own thing, just play the defense. I've really got to focus this week in practice so I'm ready for the game Sunday."'
Can Mularkey right this ship? [5:03 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'All those things you mentioned are things to build on but Buffalo, realistically, needs to go 10-3 the rest of the way to make the playoffs. Got a mortgage you want to bet?'
Inside slant [5:03 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: 'Gregg Williams was fired in part because the Bills never became a disciplined team, ranking among the NFL's most penalized clubs during his three seasons as coach. Three games into Mike Mularkey's tenure, however, not much has changed.'
Strategy and personnel [5:02 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: 'He and his staff spent the bye week promising to clean up a laundry list of what they called "correctable" mistakes. The Bills then went out and played one of their sloppiest games yet with 11 penalties, several dropped passes, two turnovers, and seven sacks. The lack of discipline is alarming this far into the process.'
Notes, quotes [5:01 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: 'The Bills take a 2-11 record in their last 13 road games into the Meadowlands to face the unbeaten New York Jets on Sunday. In those games, QB Drew Bledsoe has thrown 10 TD passes, 17 interceptions and been sacked 45 times. Buffalo has committed 38 turnovers and collected just seven takeaways (minus-31). It's hard to believe the Bills were once 3-1 under Bledsoe on the road. He was also 2-11 in his last 13 road contests with New England.'
Bumbling Bills blow their chance [5:00 AM]
Toronto Star reports: 'Asked by a reporter if it was a good idea to run the speed-challenged Bledsoe on a rollout, Mularkey replied, "I think it is, knowing what I know compared to what you know."'
These Bills aren’t good [4:59 AM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'The errors you saw in Game 1 will surely be replicated in the season finale. How do I know? Because the players making the most persistent mistakes are veterans.'
It’s more of the same for Pats ‘n Bills [4:58 AM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'And finally, 7-22. It’s Buffalo’s record in AFC East games since the 2000 season.'
Ask Him Yourself: Mike Mularkey [10:05 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: What happened with the last minute fumble with Drew doing the play-action pass with the defenders coming in unblocked? Was that how the play was supposed to be played or did someone miss their block? I don't understand that call. Also, I really think next year's roster should include some big offensive linemen to protect Drew, don't you? I believe he could be a great leader of the team if he had more time to throw the ball.
Mike Mularkey: We missed a block. We had a run through on a blitz and didn't come off fast enough on it and it blew the play up.'
