Marker Sack-prone Bledsoe having trouble adjusting [5:00 AM]
New York Newsday reports: 'Bledsoe has been sacked 14 times in the last two games and has not adapted well to Mularkey's West Coast concepts (three touchdowns in three games). The offensive line has played poorly and is dealing with injuries to center Trey Teague (questionable, knee) and LT Jonas Jennings (questionable, neck).'

Marker Jets keying on Henry [4:59 AM]
White Plains Journal News reports: 'Henry, the compact Bills running back, has three 100-yard rushing days in five career games against the Jets. In a 17-6 victory over the Jets on a freezing day in Buffalo last December, Henry ran for a career-high 169 yards despite playing with damaged rib cartilage and being only two weeks removed from suffering a cracked fibula.'

Marker Jets' top worry: Tackle Henry [4:58 AM]
Newark Star Ledger reports: '"He's an excellent runner," Edwards said. "(Henry) can run. We haven't stopped him yet. We can't tackle the guy. He knocks us over like bowling pins."'

Marker Bledsoe at a loss to stop opponents' many sacks [4:57 AM]
Newark Star Ledger reports: 'Why so many sacks?
To be honest, it's been a group effort. A few of them have been attributed to missed assignments. One or two of them have been errors on behalf of myself and the receivers as far as breaking off the sight adjustments and me getting the ball out of my hands. Some of them have just been guys getting beat physically.'

Marker Those Buffalo blues [4:55 AM]
Rochester City Newspaper reports: 'In order to remain calm, you should accept that Drew Bledsoe and the Buffalo line is a disastrous mixture during obvious passing downs. Expect a sack nearly every time. Now, if they convert, you'll be pleasantly surprised. And if people bug you about the Bills at the water cooler, or if they call you up incessantly to rip on them and bring you down, do what Dr. Wayne Dyer, a motivational expert, suggests whenever people get on your nerves. Refuse to ingest it. Remain calm and simply say, "I'm sorry, that's your stuff, and that has nothing to do with me."'

Marker Buffalo (0-3) at NY Jets (3-0) [4:55 AM]
AP reports: '``It's (a hole) we have to climb out of,'' said Buffalo coach Mike Mularkey of his team's 0-3 start. ``We'll find out what we're made of during the next few weeks. There is a lot of football left and I believe in these guys.'''

Marker Inside slant [4:54 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: 'While the 3-0 Jets have shown they know how to win, the 0-3 Bills have mastered the art of self-destruction. They are minus-two in turnover margin (the Jets are plus 8). They have been flagged for 25 penalties, good for 227 backward yards (the Jets have just nine penalties for 64). The Jets have won by 7, 6 and 8 points.'

Marker Strategy and personnel [4:53 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: 'Bills DTs Pat Williams and Sam Adams vs. Jets C Kevin Mawae - They don't come better, or tougher, than Mawae who snapped left-handed against Miami last week because his right hand was heavily taped to protect a cracked bone. If Williams and Adams can wear on Mawae, it will open some blitz lanes for the linebackers and DBs.'

Marker Notes, quotes [4:52 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: 'It appears that 1-2 running punch of Travis Henry and Willis McGahee that the Bills coaching staff talked about in the off-season was all hot air, leaving many to wonder why McGahee was drafted at all.'

Marker Wire May Have Lost His Starting Job [4:51 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'Trey Teague was not at practice Wednesday, but is still questionable for Sunday against the Jets. Mike Mularkey wouldn't reveal exactly what's wrong, but it's around the meniscus in the knee.'

Marker Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets [4:50 AM]
WIVB-TV reports: 'The Jets just don't make any mistakes, and right now, the Bills are still bound to make a few. That's the difference in a 24-17 New York win.'

Marker Bills-Jets prediction [4:49 AM]
WOKR-TV reports: 'Prediction: Jets 24 Bills 17.'

Marker Targeting Travis [4:48 AM] reports: 'In five career games versus the Jets, Henry has rushed for 567 yards, an average of 113.4 yards per game.'

Marker Flashback: Bills Beat Jets on Monday Night [9:29 PM] reports: 'After the Bills were absent from the Monday night stage for four years, Smith and Reed’s first appearance came seven games into the ‘88 campaign when they traveled to the Meadowlands and helped beat the Jets, 37-14. The most points the Bills had scored in a regulation game in nine seasons.'

Marker CB Vincent Ruled Out for Jets Game [9:27 PM] reports: '"I'm just taking it day-to-day," said Vincent. "I feel better than I did yesterday and I don't want to go into the weeks and days because if I'm not back when I say I'm supposed to be back then where do I go from my mindset? I don't want fans or my teammates expecting me to be back tomorrow if I'm not ready. As soon as I'm ready I'll be back on the football field."'

Marker NFL Celebrates 'High School Tuesday' [9:26 PM] reports: '"The day helps to reinforce the messages that high schools are passing on to their players each and every day: take care of your school work, practice and play hard, and enjoy the experience," said Mikko Simon, Manager of "Every NFL player loves reminiscing about his high school days, and many have formed long-lasting relationships with their coaches and teammates. NFL High School Tuesday helps today's high schoolers realize the value of what they are doing and not to take anything for granted."'

Marker Reserves Will Step In [9:26 PM] reports: 'If Trey Teague's knee injury keeps him sidelined, Ross Tucker, usually a back-up guard, would make his first career start at center.'

Marker Bills accuse Patriots LB Wilfork of taking cheap shots [9:06 PM]

Marker Bills O-line, defensive backfield banged up [5:56 PM]
AP reports: 'Center Trey Teague and left tackle Jonas Jennings were held out of practice Wednesday, leaving the Buffalo Bills potentially short two starters for this weekend's game at the New York Jets.'

Marker Banged Up Bills Eye First Win [1:07 PM] reports: 'The mood among the team right now is one of a little frustration, frustration over the fact that a lot of their problems have been self-inflicted. I think certainly when you look closely at the three games that they’ve lost, if you take away some of their own mental mistakes and breakdowns, they very easily could be 3-0 right now. I think that’s the different between good teams and bad teams. Good teams limit their mistakes and continue to play good, solid football. The Bills just have not been doing enough of that lately.'

Marker When Bills had to be perfect, they weren't [8:51 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The Bills said the bootleg would have worked if everyone had executed his assignment. But given how deep Bledsoe was in the backfield, he would have had to cover a lot of ground to get the 3 yards needed for the first down. That's a lot to ask, given his limited mobility.'

Marker Who's To Blame? [8:50 AM] reports: Who is responsible for the Bills losing their last 6 games? Who is responsible for the team being 17-34 since 2001? Who is responsible for ensuring the word ‘Bills’ is never mentioned with the term ‘playoff team’? Let’s take a look at the candidates for the title of scapegoat king/bringer of weekly indigestion.

Marker Bills vs. Jets Preview [5:48 AM] reports: The Bills and Jets are two teams going in opposite directions so far this season. The Bills are one of the league's biggest disappointments at 0-3 and need to right the ship quickly. It will be a very hard job to do at the Meadowlands this week.

Marker Players Need to be Held Accountable [3:28 PM] reports: 'The players need to be held accountable for their actions. You hate to take your best players off the field, but you have to send a message. You can't play stupid football. Stupid football will make you lose every time, it doesn't matter if you're the most talented team in the league. If you don't play smart, you're not going to win. That's been the biggest issue so far. Until they get this problem cleaned-up it's going to remain a serious issue. Obviously you hate to take certain guys off the field, but if you have repeat offenders that just aren't getting the message then maybe, you need to bench them. Hopefully it won't come to that, but if you're able to damage a guy's ego he may think long and hard about what he's doing on the field and it may help to fix some of those mistakes.'

Marker HS Football "Coach of the Week" - Week 5 [3:27 PM] reports: 'Coach Mike Kane of Olean High School has been named the Buffalo Bills high school football “Coach of the Week” for the fifth weekend of the 2004 season (October 1-2).'

Marker Game Notes: Bills vs. Patriots [3:27 PM] reports: 'The Bills currently rank 1st in the AFC in both kickoff returns and kickoff coverage.'

Marker What these Bills lack is discipline [12:39 PM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'But that doesn’t change the fact Bills’ players lack a sense of fear. Just because the head coach doesn’t get in their face doesn’t mean there can’t be consequences for dumb or careless play.'
