Marker Bills ticket prices continue to reach new heights [1:40 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'In an email to The Buffalo News, Chris Leyden, a content analyst for SeatGeek, wrote that "the overall average resale price of a Bills ticket this year is now $128, which puts them 18th in the league, up from an average resale price of $100 at this point last season, which put them 28th in the league. That's a year-over-year increase in price of 28 percent."'

Marker Three and Out: Bills-Giants game preview [1:39 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Can Tyrod Taylor out-play another elite-level quarterback? Taylor certainly won the battle in the opener against Indianapolis' Andrew Luck, and after Tom Brady showed Taylor what world-class quarterbacking is all about, Taylor bounced back and completely outplayed Miami's Ryan Tannehill, a QB who is regarded by many as a rising talent. Now in his fourth career NFL start, Taylor squares off with New York's Eli Manning. Say what you want about Eli, but he has two Super Bowl rings, one more than his far-more highly respected brother Peyton.'

Marker Bills fans rejoice: Buffalo named best NFL tailgating city by Yahoo! Travel [1:38 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: 'Yahoo! Travel highlights the the largest indoor tailgating party in the league held at the ADPRO Sports Training Center. The travel website commends the Bills organization for creating a "family-friendly" and "kid-focused" environment.'

Marker Giants or Bills? Game preview Q&A [1:37 AM]
Batavia Daily News reports: 'I don't know that Giants fans think all that much about Watkins. Whatever the circumstances were that led to it, the Giants are very fortunate to have Beckham, and they know it. Watkins is a terrific talent, but he's not Beckham.'

Marker Tyrod Taylor Goes from a Protégé to a Productive Quarterback [1:36 AM]
New York Times reports: '“I tried to learn as much as I could from him,” Taylor said of Flacco, whom he still consults. “The way he played the game, from the pocket, bettering myself from the pocket and learning from the different coordinators. “In my four years, we had three different coordinators. It’s a bunch of knowledge to gather from those guys, and I try to learn as much as possible.”'

Marker 5 things to watch in Bills - Giants [1:35 AM]
WKBW-TV reports: 'When the Bills go up against the New York Giants Sunday, they’ll be matched up with a team that lacks talent at a lot of places on defense. Tyrod Taylor and Karlos Williams shouldn’t have much trouble establishing an offensive flow against the Giants, which will in turn set the table nicely for the defense. And while the defensive line will have a bit of a better opponent this weekend in New York’s offensive line than they did last week in Miami, they still have a significant enough advantage with all four starters to get to Eli Manning. Point blank, the Bills have the far more talented roster — even without McCoy and Watkins, and should win this game.'

Marker Top 10 reasons to be pumped for Bills-Giants [1:34 AM] reports: 'Away games are for resting your voice, your grill, your Zubaz and your energy. What you conserved last week, you better be ready to unleash this week when the Bills return to their home crowd at the only place you’d ever want to spend a Sunday afternoon.'

Marker Saturday's New York Coverage [7:35 AM] reports: Click here

Marker Charles Clay's blocking sparks Buffalo's offense, too [1:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"He’s an exceptional blocker for the position," he said. "You’d be hard-pressed to find a player who’s a better combination of both than Charles is. The guy can pass block, too, which it’s rare to find a tight end who can do all three things. He can play in the backfield, he can play extended. The guy’s really versatile and he’s not a jack of all trades, master of none."'

Marker Getting to Know: Nickell Robey on how boxing fed his fearlessness [1:58 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'We’ve talked about your mother who passed away. Who else has been a source of inspiration for you? Obviously my mom. But other than that, my grandma and my grandfather. They always stay on top of me. They’re constantly in my ear—I have to give them big ups. My whole family does a great job of staying on me and staying in my ear, making sure I’m OK and feel good, making sure I’m always happy.'

Marker Bills won't underestimate Cruz-less Giant passing game [1:57 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '“You’ve always got to keep that edge, obviously, when you’re playing against a guy like Eli Manning, a guy who’s won at the highest level of this game, a guy that has very good knowledge of the game,” safety Corey Graham said. “If you pay attention and watch film, you see he’s getting everybody lined up, he’s making all of the checks at the line of scrimmage, he’s giving all the signals and things like that. So he has a great understanding of the offense, what he’s trying to get accomplished.'

Marker McCoy won’t return until he’s ready [1:56 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '“Usually, where I can kind of accelerate through and burst through, I don’t have the same type of get-off,” the running back said. “To be honest, I’m not the bruising type, just running through everybody. My thing is making them miss and getting out of there. If you can’t do that, you can’t do nothing.”'

Marker While Bills pressure Manning, Taylor should have time [1:55 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Rex Ryan learned the hard way that he should never deviate from what he and his defense do best. After paying a heavy price for trying to pressure Tom Brady primarily with his defensive line, Ryan saw excellent results from frequently blitzing Ryan Tannehill when the Dolphins tried copying the Patriots’ quick-passing tactic last Sunday.'

Marker Bills' Mulligan a weight room all-star [1:54 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'For a team that wanted to run the ball, Mulligan was the perfect tight end for that style, and sure enough, he made the 53-man roster and has been active each of the first three weeks.'

Marker Bills-Giants tickets most expensive game in 5 years [1:53 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: '"Fans who waited until the last minute to buy tickets can probably save some money, as we have seen prices drop over the past week," he said, noting that since Sunday median listed prices have dropped 36 percent, or from $260 to $167. "Looking over the past few months it actually looks like prices were building up throughout the start of the season, and now with the game just a few days away sellers need to offload tickets, and because of that are dropping prices."'

Marker No slowing down Waterloo's Tom Coughlin [1:52 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: '"Obviously the guy's a fantastic football coach but he's really a good guy to be around,'' Ryan said. "Yeah, we're different and things like that but he's kinda got a neat personality and I've always enjoyed being around him and had the utmost respect for him. This is one of the true legends in the field of coaching and he'll obviously be in Canton one day.'''

Marker How East Syracuse's Russ Brandon became one of most powerful sports figures in Western New York [1:51 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: '"I like to think I haven't grown out of being the guy from East Syracuse," he says, "because that is my foundation."'

Marker Buffalo Bills have different version of Karlos Williams than Florida State did [1:50 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: 'Those red flags were enough to scare off every team in the NFL. Besides the Bills. Buffalo was risking more than just Williams' off-the-field history, though. The Bills were also taking a running back who had played the position for only two seasons and whose yards per carry average dropped from 8.0 to 4.6 between his junior and senior seasons.'

Marker Kicker Pete Gogolak still follows both teams [1:49 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: 'So I called Gogolak Friday, at his Connecticut home, to tell him I was reposting the old column, edited for space (and timeliness). Gogolak, now 73, told me he'll be watching Sunday's game on television. He expects it to be close, and he said he still carries allegiance to both teams .... although if put to the test, based simply on the number of years he played with New York, he'd side with the Giants - who in 2010 added Gogolak to their "Ring of Honor."'

Marker Bills' RB says he won't play until he's 100 percent, may miss multiple weeks [1:48 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: '"Especially the past couple of weeks just evaluating myself," McCoy said. "As much as I want to go out there and help my team out and play, it's actually hurting me and my teammates. There's certain plays I should be making and I'm not because I can't physically do it. There's so much to think about. Coming to this team, the team we have, you just want to come out here and perform, so I was just trying to fight it off. I can't play through pain. I can, but it's not going well for me."'

Marker Bills/Sabres president Russ Brandon on new role, criticism and an unbelievable year [1:47 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: '"I've never drafted a player. I know I had the GM title, but I never drafted a player. That was the responsibility of the director of college scouting how we were structured then. We had a director of pro scouting. It wasn't an ideal situation, but that's how we were structured. I've never drafted a player. The funny thing is, the one draft that a lot of people pinned on me, it was a great draft with the exception of the first-round pick (Aaron Maybin in 2009). All that credit goes to Tom Modroff. That's part of the business. I get a kick out of it sometimes."'

Marker Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor-made for task [1:46 AM]
Toronto Sun reports: '“He’s real dynamic,” the defensive end said. “And he doesn’t play like this is his first time being a full-time starter, for sure. He has a lot of weapons at his disposal, and he has a good defence to depend on and lean on, so he can just play comfortable ... the team believes in him.”'

Marker Roman’s shift-crazy offence makes life difficult for Bills opponents [1:45 AM]
Toronto Sun reports: 'Take the opening TD drive. The Bills moved 77 yards in just five plays -- all of which featured pre-snap shifts, all of which keyed on misdirection, and all of which were passes off play-action (that is, after fake handoffs) thrown either horizontally, or to horizontally moving targets.'

Marker How Giants can quickly shut up Rex Ryan’s overrated Bills [1:44 AM]
New York Post reports: 'Here is the Giants’ formula for success: Smack Ryan’s Bills in the mouth first, before the Bills have a chance to smack them. This is always the best way to neutralize a supposed bully. It also will slow the Bills down, because Ryan is a front-running coach whose teams reflect his personality.'

Marker Giants vs. Buffalo Bills predictions: A clean sweep, but for which team? [1:43 AM]
Newark Star Ledger reports: 'The Bills are 5.5 point favorites per the guys and gals over at And here are the staff predictions for the game...'

Marker Bills keeping emotions in check in preparing to host Giants [1:41 AM]
AP reports: '"I've definitely got to be smarter and more mature about situations, and try to handle stuff like that," said Williams, who was restrained by teammates and coaches after being flagged for an unnecessary roughness penalty against New England.'

Marker Bills RB McCoy out indefinitely after hamstring setback [1:40 AM]
AP reports: 'McCoy spoke about the setback for the first time on Friday. He said he was making progress in his recovery from the left hamstring injury before Buffalo's Week 3 game against the Miami Dolphins, but hurt it again on Sept. 24. McCoy attempted to play through the injury in Buffalo's 41-14 win over the Dolphins but ran for just 16 yards on 11 carries.'

Marker Bills will be without RB McCoy, WR Watkins [1:39 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: '"One thing I promised myself is I can't go out there if I'm not 100 percent," McCoy told reporters. "So if it's this game or next game, whenever it is, I'm rushing to get back but I'm not playing until I'm 100 percent."'

Marker Shady, Sammy, Miller all ruled out for Bills [1:38 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'McCoy said he doesn't want to "coach" Williams on the sidelines, but will do whatever he can to help his backfield mate when he comes off the field. McCoy conformed to me he will be on sidelines for the game. The Bills previous head coach, Doug Marrone, often wouldn't let injured players on the sideline for games for fear of them getting rolled up on and re-injured. However, McCoy said current head coach Rex Ryan wants him involved in the game and he wants to help out.'

Marker Roman: Karlos Williams ready for lead role [1:37 AM]
WGR-AM reports: '“Of course he is. Of course he is,” Roman told reporters Wednesday. “You gotta understand, we look at it like this – If you’re on the team you are a starter, because at some point you’re gonna play. So if a guy’s on the third through twentieth play or the first through the fifth…I mean he’s done a great job and he’s got a great attitude. I love his attitude, his work ethic, his approach every day, and I love what he brings on the field obviously. I think that’s pretty apparent. The Giants are gonna be a touch challenge and I think Karlos will be up for the challenge. But again it’s important moving forward that we understand if a guys on the team, he’s a starter. If somebody goes down next thing you know he’s in the game, so he is a starter.”'
