Rochester D&C reports: '“I think we’re doing some tremendous things here,” Jackson said after he signed a new contract that ties him to the team through 2014. “I think we can get a lot accomplished in three years. They’re doing a great job in the front office getting us the pieces that we feel like we needed. To kind of take that next step, I’m excited to be a part of it. I’m excited to sign the extension to stay here because I feel like something special is about to go down and I want to be a part of it.”'

AP reports: 'Jackson, who has led the Bills in rushing in three straight seasons, was scheduled to make a base salary of $1.955 million in entering the final year of his contract. He had expressed his dissatisfaction on several occasions last year of feeling underpaid.'

The Sports Network reports: 'Terms were not disclosed, but the Buffalo News reported it to be a two-year deal that will keep him with the club through 2014. He was entering the final season of a four-year deal he signed in May of 2009.'

WGR-AM reports: 'Jackson will make a total base salary of $8.7 million split up over two seasons -- 2013 and 2014. However, there are numerous attainable performance-based incentives to the deal that could bring up the total of the extension to $11 million. Those incentives are for the 2013 and 2014 seasons of the contract.'

BuffaloBills.com reports: 'Jackson led the Bills in rushing for the third straight year in 2011, posting 934 yards on 170 carries with six touchdowns in 10 games. He finished the season first in the AFC (second in the NFL) with a 5.5 rushing average.'

Lisbon’s Browne to try out with Buffalo [5:50 AM]
East Liverpool Review reports: 'Browne did not know details about how the tryout process will work, but he said he will spend some time at home in Lisbon for a few days before flying to Buffalo to begin his professional football career. Browne had been training in Arizona in an attempt to get ready for the NFL.'

AP reports: 'Florence took the news in stride in a message posted on his Twitter account. He wrote ''Business is business,'' adding that he's moving on and thanked his fans for their support.'

AP reports: 'Tanney created a big buzz last year in the self-titled ''Trick Shot Quarterback'' video by showing he can hit a receiver in a moving vehicle and throw footballs from across the court and swish them into basketball nets. He even banged a pass off the crossbar of an upright from 50 yards out - from his knees.'

The Sports Xchange reports: 'Tyler Thigpen, who signed a three-year contract last July, is currently the primary backup with Brad Smith available for wildcat plays and dire emergencies. Thigpen, 28, is a former seventh-round pick with just 12 NFL starts in five years. Also added to the mix was rookie Aaron Crop, a free agent from Richmond who wasn't drafted. Crop was a transfer from USC and a "sleeper" type prospect in pre-draft reports.'

The Sports Xchange reports: 'The Bills sent second-year left tackle Chris Hairston a loud message with the selection of Cordy Glenn in the second round of last week's NFL draft. The left tackle spot is wide open after the loss of Demetress Bell to the Eagles in free agency. Glenn was among the top college prospects available, and was taken with the 41st overall pick. Hairston was a fourth-round pick last year, 122nd overall.'

The Sports Xchange reports: 'Numbers 90-99 are taken. No. 78, worn by Pro Football Hall of Famer Bruce Smith, hasn't been retired by the team but the equipment men don't hand it out anymore.'

Canisteo’s Clark will get shot with Bills [4:39 AM]
Corning Leader reports: 'rk wrapped up his collegiate career by being named an American Football Coaches Association first team All-America after his senior season, when he had 108 tackles (nine for loss, three sacks), two interceptions and two forced fumbles. He registered 377 career tackles (51 for loss, 15.5 sacks), six interceptions and five forced fumbles. Clark also served as the Saxons’ short-yardage running back during his last three seasons and finished his career with 26 rushing touchdowns.'

Thigpen, 28, saw almost no action last season, entering only in mop-up duty in a loss at San Diego. Thigpen is a former seventh-round draft choice who has played five seasons and has 12 career starts. He went 1-10 with a Kansas City team that finished 2-14 in 2008. He has just one start since, for Miami in 2010.'
