Marker Bills hire Malik Boyd from Cardinals to be director of pro personnel [1:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'By acknowledging it was "kind" of the Cardinals to let Boyd interview, Beane means they could've denied the Bills' request, just like the Dolphins could have with Schoen. ProFootballTalk reported that Dolphins executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum "decided to allow the move in order to foster an atmosphere of upward mobility in Miami, with quality work resulting in a reward — even if the reward comes from a division rival."'

Marker Buffalo Bills earn 'B' grade for offseason from ESPN [1:58 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Barnwell was not as kind to two of the Bills' AFC East rivals, giving the Dolphins a D+ and the Jets a C+. The Patriots also earned a B.'

Marker What Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane said about hiring Malik Boyd [1:57 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: '"Malik has had experience in college and pro. He also was a former player and he knows the game well. He cut his teeth in college originally. Good versatility. He started with Bill Polian and those guys. He worked his way and ended up in Arizona and really did a nice job. I had seen him on the road, but I called around the league and nothing but great things about his work ethic, his character and he's a good evaluator."'

Marker Wojton: Bills tank could be on as early as Sept. 11 [1:56 AM]
Batavia Daily News reports: 'As previously mentioned, it’s unclear if McDermott, Beane, or whoever, are good hires. What would be clear is that a loss would be potentially devastating to those looking to have fun this season.'

Marker Bills hire Malik Boyd to be their pro personnel director [1:55 AM]
AP reports: 'Boyd replaces Jim Monos, who was fired along with general manager Doug Whaley and most of Buffalo's scouting staff a day after the NFL draft. Beane took over as GM last week and has since hired Brian Gaine as vice president of player personnel and Joe Schoen as assistant general manager.'

Marker Bills hire Boyd as Director of Pro Personnel [1:54 AM]
WGR-AM reports: '“He was my number one choice,” said Beane. “The first guy I targeted. I appreciate (Arizona GM) Steve Keim letting him come over here and interview. It was very kind of him because he was under contract. Malik is talented. He won an award in 2014, the Fritz Pollard Scout of the Year. They don’t just throw those out. He earned it. He’s going to be a great influence on our pro staff. He has a high ceiling.”'

Marker Joe B: A way too early Buffalo Bills 53-man roster projection (5/17/17) [1:53 AM]
WKBW-TV reports: 'Although I would think long and hard about keeping a fourth quarterback, Cardale Jones has to prove it on the field in order to warrant a roster spot in 2017. Peterman likely isn't going anywhere, though there is some potential for Yates to get cut if both Jones and Peterman show enough this spring and summer. At this point, you have to look at Cardale Jones as a player that the last general manager and head coach wanted, and a lot of times in the NFL, those later round guys have a harder time making it through with the new guys in charge. It'll be an uphill climb for Jones, but we shouldn't count him out just yet.'

Marker Top 5 from Facebook Live with QB Nathan Peterman [1:52 AM] reports: 'Peterman began playing football in fourth grade, but instead of getting to play his preferred position of QB, he was assigned to play center and linebacker. Two years later, he thought about quitting football to concentrate on basketball, but the sixth grade coach gave him a chance to switch positions. His team won a city championship that year, and he’s been playing quarterback ever since.'

Marker Malik Boyd named Bills Director of Pro Personnel [1:51 AM] reports: '“He was my number one choice,” said Beane.

Marker What you need to know about Bills OTAs this week [1:50 AM] reports: 'No pads except protective knee and elbow pads. Helmets are permitted, but there is no live contact. Provided no live contact takes place 7-on-7, 9-on-7 and 11-on-11 team periods are allowed during this time.'

Marker Bills Today: Taylor makes NFLPA '2017 Rising 50' [1:49 AM] reports: 'The rankings were put together by evaluating on-field performances during the 2016 season, fantasy football popularity, early demand from NFLPA sponsors and licensees, as well as new faces in strong markets. To be considered for inclusion, players must not have appeared in any previous quarterly or year-end list of the NFLPA Top 50 Player Sales.'

Marker Buffalo Bills 90-man depth chart heading into spring practices [1:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'None of the OTAs or minicamp are open to the public. Media will attend three OTA practices, with the first coming Thursday. After practice, the Bills will make assistant coaches available to the media for the first time since they were hired. Here is The Buffalo News' crack at providing a 90-man depth chart.'

Marker Bills start 'Phase Three' of offseason program Tuesday with OTAs [1:58 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Team drills are allowed during OTAs, which means the Bills can hold 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 drills between the offense and defense. No 1-on-1 drills, like receivers against cornerbacks or offensive lineman against defensive lineman, are permitted under terms of the collective bargaining agreement between the league and its players.'

Marker Jerry Sullivan: Rex Carr is buying in, yet again, with his Bills and Sabres [1:57 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"Typical negativity," Rex snarled. "You'd find something bad to say about 70 degrees and sunny. You ran off Whaley and ripped the Pegulas for dysfunction. So they got Brandon Beane for GM, stole Joe Schoen from Miami to be his assistant, and now they get Gaine on top of it. Do you hit the ground unhappy in the morning?"'

Marker Ex-Bills coach Rex Ryan to call MNF opener for ESPN with Beth Mowins [1:56 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Ryan, who agreed to a contract with ESPN to serve as an NFL studio analyst after he was fired by the Bills, previously called the Florida State spring game with Mowins, a Syracuse native who graduated from Cicero-North Syracuse High School and earned a master's degree from Syracuse University in 1990. According to a recent article on, she received the Newhouse School of Communications' Marty Glickman Award in 2015 and was inducted into the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame in 2009.'

Marker Jay Skurski's 3 Bills thoughts: On Brian Gaine, T.J Yates, Kolby Listenbee [1:55 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'That's not to say that Gaine's hiring will be a guaranteed success. Fellow News Sports Reporter Tim Graham and I had some fun on Twitter pointing out the Bills once acquired Mario Williams AND Mark Anderson or Rex Ryan AND Greg Roman or Derrick Dockery AND Langston Walker (hat tip to Bills Digest editor Mark Ludwiczak for that one). With that being said, though, it's impressive that the Bills were able to hire two of the four candidates they interviewed for general manager.'

Marker 6 free agents the Buffalo Bills should consider signing before training camp [1:54 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: 'The Bills didn't address defensive end in the 2017 NFL draft. They have a fine starting duo in Shaq Lawson and Jerry Hughes, but lack depth. Devin Taylor remains on the market and could give Buffalo a solid backup at the position along with Ryan Davis. Taylor, 27, started 16 games with the Lions in 2016 and has recorded 11.5 sacks in the last two seasons.'

Marker 8 things we've learned about Buffalo Bills in Sean McDermott-Brandon Beane era [1:53 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: 'Since he walked through the door, McDermott has been able to put his stamp on every aspect of the organization. From how the walls are decorated at the facility to major personnel and roster decisions, this is McDermott's team. He will now be surrounded by people he's comfortable with, making a collaborative approach even easier. That's a lot of trust to put in a first-time head coach, but it also makes accountability that much easier.'

Marker Bills GM Brandon Beane doesn’t rule out coming after Panthers execs to join him in Buffalo [1:52 AM]
Charlotte Observer reports: 'Gettleman told the Observer last week that all the Panthers’ scouts and front office personnel are under contract and strongly suggested he’d block any attempt by Beane to bring any of them with him to Buffalo.'

Marker UAlbany football's Logan gets chance with Bills [1:51 AM]
Albany Times Union reports: '"I'm blessed to be in this position," Logan said in a phone interview. "Now that I've got my foot in the door, I can show how multitalented I am and show my work ethic and make a 53-man roster, because that's really the goal. This is just a milestone of my football career, but by no means am I satisfied with where I am right now."'

Marker When it comes to QB, Bills talk - and actions - are calculated [1:50 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'But both also know they may very well move on from Taylor following this coming season. And as two young faces putting their names and reputations on the line for the first time for what they hope will be many years, why hitch their wagons to one that may be pulling out of town in less than 12 months?'

Marker Notice what new Bills leaders aren't saying [1:49 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'Beane and McDermott appear bright and motivated. I like what I see, and hear. But when you're taking stock of what they're saying, also make a note of what they're not.'

Marker Beane quickly assembling powerhouse front office [1:48 AM] reports: '“I took a shot in the dark that he would want to do this because it’s generally a pretty lateral move, but Brian was excited about building this and starting this. I think partnering with me and Joe was attractive. I know Brian and who he is to the core and trust that he’s going to be a big time asset.”'

Marker Bills Today: Bills front office already working the roster [1:47 AM] reports: '“My first priority is to get the personnel staff hired. I got Joe Schoen hired and he’s going to be a great asset for everyone here. That’ll be priority number one until I get the staff set. But we’ll always be looking. If there are guys on the waiver wire this week, we’ll pay attention to it. If we can move a guy… if a team calls us about a guy that would help them and we think it’s helpful to us, we’ll definitely consider it.”'

Marker Analysis: Bills in a good spot to find a quarterback going forward [1:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The real question, however, is what will happen after this upcoming season. It’s clear by now that the Bills aren’t yet convinced Taylor can be the starter here for the long term.'

Marker Bills hire GM candidate Brian Gaine as VP of Player Personnel [1:58 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"It’s generally a pretty lateral move, but Brian was excited about building this and starting this,” he said in an article posted to “I think partnering with me and Joe was attractive. I know Brian and who he is to the core and trust that he’s going to be a big time asset."'

Marker Bills sign tryout linebackers Anthony Harrell and Abner Logan, release a pair [1:57 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Logan is 6-1, 235 and played for Albany in 2016, registering 96 tackles, including six for losses, and two sacks. Prior to that, he played for Maryland, appearing in 19 games with four starts and making 42 tackles for the Terrapins. The Bills this week with begin organized team activities.'

Marker Bills coach Sean McDermott to throw out first pitch for the Bisons [1:56 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Friday's first pitch will be at 7:05 p.m. The fridaynightbash! promotion begins at 5 p.m. when gates open for happy hour with $3 craft beers.'

Marker Tim Graham's Power Take: Rex Ryan will need some TV coaching [1:55 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Where he'll likely struggle in the beginning is when criticizing players and coaching decisions. When Ryan provided commentary for Florida State's spring game, he pulled punches and provided low-quality insight on the action.'
