Marker Bledsoe gets best of Vikes once again [7:48 AM]
Fargo Forum reports: '“I was just telling my offensive line, ‘I’ll go to war with you guys anytime,’ if you can pass that many times and do the job as well as they did,” Bledsoe said. “I am proud to play with those guys. It was a team victory and it took everything we had - defense, offense and special teams. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction and we can start winning some games.”'

Marker Defense was the key for Bills [5:36 AM]
D and C reports: 'While the blizzard of offensive statistics -- led by Drew Bledsoe's team-record 463 passing yards -- were certainly impressive, this game ultimately came down to the two Minnesota possessions in overtime when the high-powered Vikings failed to make a first down. Six plays, 13 yards, two punts.'

Marker Buffalo Bills Report Card [5:35 AM]
D and C reports: 'Drew Bledsoe's etched his name in the record books with a 463-yard, 3-TD passing day, but his biggest play may have been falling on Travis Henry's fumble at the Vikings' 1-yard-line on a key TD drive in the fourth quarter. The freon was running through his veins at crunch time and completely torched Vikings' secondary. A+'

Marker Misses expected to cost Brien kicking job [5:32 AM]
Minneapolis Star Tribune reports: 'In any event, that means Brien, who had missed only three PATs in 228 attempts in his eight-plus seasons before this, would leave the team having missed two of his last five.'

Marker Kicker cost Vikings this game [5:31 AM]
Minneapolis Star Tribune reports: 'But this loss was the result of a kicker named Mike Hollis doing his job and winning the game for Buffalo and a kicker named Doug Brien losing the game for the Vikings by missing two extra points.'

St. Paul Pioneer Press reports: '"He gave a special performance," Buffalo coach Gregg Williams said of Bledsoe. "He was really cool all game. The other guys were feeding off him."'

Marker The Vikings' defense is learning about the fine line between victory and defeat [5:26 AM]
St. Paul Pioneer Press reports: '"They had their moments and made the plays when they had to,'' Vikings cornerback Corey Chavous said. "It was one of those games that you play in when both teams are in desperate need of a victory. We battled for five quarters, but they made the plays that made the difference."'

Marker Williams' rushing effort wasted [5:25 AM]
St. Paul Pioneer Press reports: 'Lost in the misery was that for the second consecutive week the Vikings ran the ball effectively. Williams led the way with 102 of the team's 213 yards on the ground.'

Marker Culpepper blames self - again [5:24 AM]
St. Paul Pioneer Press reports: 'Culpepper fumbled four times, losing the ball three times and costing his team 13 points.'

Marker Brien deserves blame, but so do others [5:23 AM]
St. Paul Pioneer Press reports: 'While the blame for the loss starts with Brien, there was plenty to spread around.'

Marker Brien's exit appears near [5:22 AM]
St. Paul Pioneer Press reports: '"Who misses two PATs in a game? High school kickers make those," Brien said earlier. "I'm just so disgusted with myself, I'm not even worried about (the possibility of being released)."'

Marker Extra points [5:22 AM]
St. Paul Pioneer Press reports: 'Members of the Vikings' secondary still might be smoldering from the torching they received from Buffalo's Peerless Price.'

Marker Flush with Bledsoe infusion [5:19 AM]
Boston Globe reports: '''With Drew,'' said Price, `if you're down, 40-0, you believe you can win.'''

Marker Mike Doser: Reliving the biggest play of the day [12:17 AM]
Shout! reports: It was the second week in a row, the Bills drew up a clutch play on the spot to take advantage of something they saw in the defense. It was a witty piece of play-calling on Bledsoe and OC Kevin Gilbride's part. Of course, Bledsoe and Price had to execute it to perfection.

Marker Bledsoe makes his mark with Bills [11:52 PM]
Minneapolis Star Tribune reports: 'Drew Bledsoe threw for 463 yards in Buffalo's 45-39 overtime victory over the Vikings on Sunday, shattering the franchise record for passing yards in a game. Vikings fans might remember a game eight years ago, when Bledsoe brought the Patriots back from a 20-0 deficit on the way to a 26-20 overtime victory. He threw 70 passes in that game, completing 45 of them.'

Marker Culpepper takes some blame again [11:51 PM]
Minneapolis Star Tribune reports: 'Culpepper was under pressure much of the day. Culpepper was sacked five times. Three of those times he fumbled. And those three fumbles led to 13 Buffalo points, including one that was recovered in the end zone for a fourth-quarter Bills TD. "They did a good job of getting to me," Culpepper said. "That's a part of the game. I don't care if guys come and hit me, I have to be able to bounce back, stay in there, stand tough and tall. . . . I just have to hold on to the ball. If I get hit from the back? So what. I have to hold onto the ball."

Marker Misses expected to cost Brien kicking job [11:49 PM]
Minneapolis Star Tribune reports: 'Brien, the Vikings placekicker Sunday, appears to have played his final game with the Vikings. In an overtime loss to Buffalo in the home opener, Brien missed a 44-yard field goal attempt at the end of the first half. Worse, he missed two extra points -- both pulled left -- in the second half.'

Marker Bills get past Vikings in overtime, 45-39 [11:47 PM]
Minneapolis Star Tribune reports: '"We're going to win as a team and lose as a team," Moss said. "By our FG kicker missing those [extra points], I wasn't really down on him. Of course, he could have made them. But what did we do on defense? What did we [I] do on offense? What did we do on special teams? Let's not blame it on our kicker for missing those PATs. You can't blame him. If you're going to blame somebody, let's blame the whole team, including the coaching staff. Because it was their fault and it was our fault for not making it happen. That's really what it was."'

He entered the game needing 72 yards to get to 30,000.'
