Marker Unhappy with his production, Bills release WR Shaw [8:41 PM]
AP reports: 'He had managed just five catches for 59 yards this season.'

Marker Agent: Bills release WR Shaw [3:31 PM]
AP reports: 'Shaw's agent Frank Bauer told The Associated Press that his client arrived for practice when he was informed to clean out his locker and await being cut or traded. Bauer said the team had until 1 p.m. to trade Shaw, or he would be released. ''Any time a team's struggling, there's a tendency to make some changes,'' Bauer said. ''But this one catches Bobby and me both by surprise. ... Maybe they were trying to send a message.'''

Marker Buffalo's offensive shake-up dislodges Shaw [3:05 PM]
ESPN reports: The Buffalo Bills made their first front-office reaction to owner Ralph Wilson's public frustration about an offense he labeled as boring. In a strange move Wednesday morning, the team order wide receiver Bobby Shaw to clear out his locker and await either a release or trade by 1 p.m.

Marker Bills vs. Dolphins Preview [12:45 PM]
BillsDaily.com reports: Wow! How far has this rivalry fallen? The Bills and Dolphins is usually a game circled on many fans of both team's calendars. This year, it is a battle of the only two remaining winless teams in the entire league.

Marker Same old story for the Bills [12:44 PM]
Wellsville Daily Reporter reports: 'It's now or never for the Bills with the easiest part of the schedule coming over the next three weeks with a Ravens squad that will be without the suspended Jamal Lewis and the 1-4 Cardinals coming after Miami before looking for revenge against the Jets on Nov. 7. But as abysmal as things look right now, a win on Sunday would put the Bills at 1-4, the same record the Tennessee Titans had in 2002 on their way to an 11-5 record and AFC Championship appearance.'

Marker Teague forced to sit and watch [8:51 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"I hadn't missed an offensive play in three years before I got hurt," said Teague, whose string of 35 straight starts with the Bills is the longest of the offensive linemen. "It's just one of those things that happened. It's unfortunate, but my main concern is getting back as soon as possible and help us get a win."'

Marker Former UM star McGahee could start against Dolphins [5:05 AM]
Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel reports: '"We've seen some things on the practice field the last couple of weeks that we hadn't seen with him in terms of his quickness and burst," said Bills President/General Manager Tom Donahoe, who didn't play McGahee in his rookie season to avoid risking a setback in his recuperation. "It looked to be where it used to be."'

Marker Bills by the Numbers [5:03 AM]

Marker Flashback: Kelly's TD Run Tops Dolphins [9:28 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '"I remember pretty much spreading everybody out and it was really supposed to be a pass play," said Kelly. "I've heard like four or five different things it was supposed to be, but it was supposed to be a pass play to Ronnie Harmon out in the flat. We were supposed to have a couple picks coming across on the right side, but as I got the snap, I dropped back and I just saw the guys splitting them. The linebackers and defensive backs were just splitting. I saw a little crease and decided to put my head down and run to the goal line and hopefully I was going to get across before they got to me. I remember getting underneath a couple of the Dolphin players. One of the guys was hurt on that play. I think, if I remember correctly, one of them knocked the other guy out, but I was almost the one that really got hurt the worst. I was on the bottom of that pile and I couldn't breath! I'm yelling for everyone to get off me! Then I just couldn't even yell because I was so tired and just the excitement of beating the Dolphins."'

Marker Bills Make Practice Squad Move [8:54 PM]
WGR-AM reports: 'David Pruce is an offensive lineman who was in camp with New England this summer. He was a starter in NFL Europe for Frankfurt for the past two seasons.'

Marker Bills place OL Sobieski on injured list; sign OL Pruce [8:51 PM]
AP reports: 'The team did not disclose Sobieski's injury. The Bills' fifth-round pick in the 2003 draft, Sobieski appeared in one game as a rookie, and opened this season on the practice squad.'

Marker Bills Sign Pruce to Practice Squad [4:52 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'Pruce, originally signed by the Baltimore Ravens in 2002, was most recently signed as a free agent by the Patriots in February of 2004 and allocated to NFL Europe. The University of Buffalo grad played in NFL Europe for the Frankfurt Galaxy in 2003 and 2004, starting all 20 games over that span.'

Marker Bills Need to be More Aggressive [4:52 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'The Bills should open things up a bit offensively. Lee Evans has really come on as a deep threat and a great weapon for Drew. He has caught a long ball down field for three straight games now and they need to get him more involved in the offense. There's nothing wrong with letting Drew throw the ball deep. Their offensive game plan this season has not put up enough points and it hasn't earned them a win. Maybe it's time to change things up a little and not try to control the clock as much. Their offensive philosophy hasn't worked the way everyone had hoped it would yet this season.'

Marker HS Football "Coach of the Week" - Week 6 [4:51 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'Coach Dean Santorio of Grand Island High School has been named the Buffalo Bills high school football "Coach of the Week" for the sixth weekend of the 2004 season (October 8-9).'

Marker Get ready for NFL game of the weak [1:15 PM]
Niagara Gazette reports: 'This could be the low-scoring type of game that has typified the National Hockey League over the past decade.'

Marker Bills’ defense should share some blame [12:05 PM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'That is to say, as much as the Bills are offensively challenged, they would still be 2-2 if defensive coordinator Jerry Gray’s unit could have gotten stops on the opponents’ final drives in two games.'

Marker Bills gearing up for AFC Least battle [12:00 PM]
The Sports Network reports: 'In all fairness to the Bills, they have been in every game they have played and have nowhere near the problems of the Miami Dolphins, who rank last in nearly every offensive category.'

Marker Same Old Thing [12:00 PM]
WOKR-TV reports: 'Don’t think for a second that I’m blaming it all on Mike Mularkey. He’s new and inexperienced. But he’s also smart and aware. I think if we could get him past the coachspeak of protecting his guys, he’d tell you the truth. He knows he has to purge this roster of players that are either; a) bad b) a bad fit or c) bad at winning.'

Marker Tucker provides relief at center [10:22 AM]
Reading Eagle reports: '“It just seemed they liked me more as kind of a sixth man at all three interior spots,” Tucker said. “That became my role.”'

Marker This time, rivalry is hardly offensive [8:52 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Who knows where this season is headed for the Bills and Miami. But the loser Sunday will own the well-deserved title as the worst team in the NFL. Hmm, maybe this game means something after all.'

Marker Mularkey won't change course of offense in middle of season [8:52 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"It's just, I think, like us, frustration immediately after the game. Not being able to sit back and look at the tape like we have (Monday)," Mularkey said. "I think we're all frustrated, and he has every right to be being where we are right now. But I think that has a little bit to do with it."'

Marker Is the Bills' record that surprising? [5:04 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'You're right, but at some point, we have to start holding the players accountable for what happens on the field rather than blame the coaches and GM Tom Donahoe, the man who brought in 98 percent of this team. The entire season so far has boiled down to one thing — these players are not playing well and the question that has to be asked is are they capable of playing well?'

Marker Bills feel heat in October chill [5:03 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'The Bills' offense is averaging 11 points per game, which is worse than last season when it averaged 13.9 and the team finished 6-10. That's not exactly the production Wilson hoped for when he took general manager Tom Donahoe's recommendation to fire Gregg Williams and hire Mularkey, the former offensive coordinator of Donahoe's old team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.'

Marker Inside slant [5:02 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: 'He chalked Wilson's comments up to frustration and didn't take his remarks as a hidden message to change his approach to things. "My guess is that's frustration immediately after the game," Mularkey said. "Not being able to sit back and look at the tape like we have today. I think we're all frustrated and he has every right to be being where we are right now, but I think that had a little bit to do with that."'

Marker Strategy and personnel [5:01 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: 'Bottom line is that the coaches took too long to put players like young guns McGahee and Evans in a position to do something to help and the defense had another fourth-quarter collapse.'

Marker Notes, quotes [5:00 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: 'The Bills fell to 2-12 in their last 14 road games. In that stretch, QB Drew Bledsoe has been sack 49 times, the offense has averaged 12.7 points per game, and Buffalo's turnover ratio is negative 30.'

Marker Ralph: I've had enough of Smash-mouth football [4:59 AM]
WGRZ-TV reports: 'Bledsoe has his drawbacks, but you still can’t convince me he’s the main or even a big part of the reason the Bills are 0-4. Bledsoe has been sacked a league-leading 19 times. Oh, if only the Bills had a guy like Michael Vick, right? Vick has been sacked 17 times, has 3 fewer touchdown passes than Bledsoe and a 77.7 qb rating to Bledsoe’s 85.2. It takes several things to win; just check out the Patriots. In their record 19th straight win, Tom Brady was 7-19 for a TOTAL of 76 yards passing. Can you imagine the fallout in Buffalo if Bledsoe put up numbers like that?'

Marker Same Old Song And Dance [4:58 AM]
WIVB-TV reports: 'After the 7th punt the head coach reads his offense the riot act on the sideline, and then they finally wake up. Excuse me… it takes that situation to light a fire under the Bills offensive line? By then it proved to be too little too late. Where was that fire on the first seven possessions, and how come this team was not playing with that spark from the opening kickoff? It’s truly unexplainable, and inexcusable.'
