Fan of the day [5:25 AM]
D and C reports: '"If Drew Bledsoe and Eric Moulds start hooking up, it will make a big difference. Rob Johnson could never get the ball to him."'
Bills' preseason report card [9:18 PM]
Fox Sports reports: 'The Bills should make progress this season and play very competitively. But they have enough holes yet and a tough schedule that could keep them from making the playoffs. They could make things interesting over the latter half of the season as the core meshes together - but this could be a very intriguing team to watch in 2003.'
Bills all about redemption [8:46 PM]
FOX Sports reports: 'The Buffalo Bills already seem so much better than last year’s sad sacks that linebacker London Fletcher has all but guaranteed the playoffs. I don’t know about that, but I do know the Bills can cause trouble in the AFC East if quarterback Drew Bledsoe and his offensive coordinator find what they’re after. Around here, it’s called redemption.'
Q&A with Tom Donahoe [8:44 PM]
FOX Sports reports: You may not like him, but you can't help but admire Tom Donahoe for the strength in leadership he's shown in the short time he's been general manager of the Buffalo Bills. Donahoe is the guy who had the guts to cut Doug Flutie. He's the guy who straightened out the salary cap, too. He's the guy who found rookie replacements for salary-cap casualties. And now he's the guy who oversees the rebuilding of one of the AFC's best and brightest organizations through marvelous drafting and shrewd free-agent acquisitions.

Whispers from around the NFL [2:11 PM]
ESPN reports: 'This could be a make-or-break camp for three Bills veterans: DE Erik Flowers, who is struggling with a neck injury, DE Bryce Fisher and WR Jeremy McDaniel. Trade rumors continue to float around Buffalo regarding RB Shawn Bryson. The thinking is that the Bills are waiting for another team to have an injury at RB, after which they can make an offer. Bryson is currently slated to be the primary backup for Travis Henry, but the Bills have two other RBs who could fill that role in Sammy Morris and Richard Huntley. Don't be surprised if Bills guard Marques Sullivan supplants veteran Jerry Ostroski as the starting right guard. Ostroski remains on the PUP list with a leg injury, and Sullivan has been playing very well.'
Bills cut Bradley, Fletcher [1:27 PM]
AP reports: 'Both were late acquisitions, signed just before the start of training camp.'
Experience seasons Newman [1:21 PM]
Canandaigua Daily Messenger reports: "Sometimes you can put too much pressure on a guy when he's in his third year... and I think that (happen) to Keith," Bills defensive coordinator Jerry Gray said. "(In 2000, he was) starting and dominating and then you have to play like Sam and you have to play in the nickel, the dime and the ruby (cover packages) - to me, it was actually too much, but he took it and didn't complain. He did his job and I think that will help Keith this year."

Bills try to teach high schools lesson - anyone can help with heat [10:04 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: "At the professional level, we can have more. We have a staff doctor on hand at all times, IVs and complete first-aid facilities. High schools have water, but they don't have money for anything else," says Carpenter, whose team has a shed at his training camp piled high with case after case of Gatorade and another indoor facility to help cool overheated players. But a high school could find $30 for a pool that could help prevent a heat-stroke tragedy.
Chris Brown: Veteran defensive lineman Shawn Price has passed physical [9:11 AM]
WGR reports: On several occasions the Buffalo Bills have maintained they have an interest in Price and were waiting for him to be physically healthy before opening discussions on a possible contract. The Bills will presumably put him through their own physical exam, but talks between the two sides are expected to begin shortly if they haven’t already.

Lary Bump: Coaches demand more from D-line [9:10 PM]
Shout! reports: The coaching staff seemed particularly rough on the defensive line, and a brief look at the one-on-one pass-protection drill showed why. Tyrone Robertson, expected to start, couldn't get by Tom Schau, who quite likely won't make the team (unless even more offensive linemen are injured). The only defender who clearly won one on one was James Cotton, who ran around left tackle Kris Farris. Pat Williams redeemed himself after Corey Hulsey pushed him down on their first attempt, and Justin Bannan had the upper hand in a do-over with Marques Sullivan
Banged-up line doesn't concern Bledsoe [9:08 PM]
AP reports: '"You'd love to have all those guys out there all of the time," Bledsoe said Tuesday, following the Bills training camp session in suburban Rochester. "But that's just not the way it works. Part of being a successful team is that you have to be able to compensate for those things."'
While Ostroski was surprised to hear the news, Bills GM Tom Donahoe denied a published report that the team has asked the veteran lineman to take a pay cut. Donahoe said he's had no discussions of that nature with Ostroski or his agent.
Larry Felser: In Buffalo Bledsoe has weapons again. [8:59 PM]
Empire reports: Not only does he have one of the better one-two wide receiver punches with Eric Moulds and Peerless Price, but a spectacular rookie in Josh Reed, college football’s top receiver last year. Kevin Gilbride, the new OC, is using Larry Centers, the NFL’s all-time pass-catching back, downfield instead of exclusively a dink-and-dunk catcher. Bledsoe’s proven skill of hooking up with tight ends is double now with Jay Riemersma and Dave Moore.
