Marker Clements played QB at Notre Dame in '70s [9:23 PM]
ESPN reports: ' has confirmed that Clements, a former Notre Dame quarterback, will meet Thursday night with Irish officials about the school's head coaching vacancy. The timing of the session was set, in part, so that it will not conflict with Clements' responsibilities as the resurgent Bills prepare for their Sunday matchup with the Cleveland Browns.'

Marker Tight End Campbell Out; Trafford In [9:16 PM] reports: 'The former NFL Europe standout is familiar with Buffalo's offense, having spent part the entire 2004 preseason with the team before being released a week before the regular season began. "Rod has been out of the system for four months and we'll get him caught up as much as we can with out overloading him and expecting him to do too much," Mularkey said on Wednesday.'

Marker Campbell Done, Neufeld Starts [9:15 PM] reports: '“I'm going to do the best job I can,” Neufeld said of moving into the starting line up. “I've learned a lot from Mark throughout this season and hopefully I can get in there and do what he's been doing.”'

Marker Bills vs. Browns Preview [9:14 PM] reports: The Bills are on fire as they will try to continue their improbable playoff run against the Browns. Their 6-6 record puts them on the fringe of the playoffs. Cleveland is going in the opposite direction as they've lost six straight and are playing out the string. This is a classic trap game as the Bills could get caught looking ahead to next week's battle with fellow playoff wannabe Cincinnati.

Marker Success has Bledsoe having fun again [9:14 PM]
AP reports: The ever-immobile Bledsoe will never be mistaken for Atlanta's agile and powerful Michael Vick when it comes to scrambling out of the pocket. But he's no longer the aging, struggling, supposedly washed-up player many were calling him after the worst performance of his career in Buffalo's 29-6 loss to New England on Nov. 14.

Marker McGahee living up to expectations [9:13 PM] reports: On a neatly manicured grass practice field, under a cloudless and sunny August morning, in front of scores of interested onlookers, including members of the national media, Willis McGahee -- the Bills' 2003 first-round draft choice -- was making his long-awaited NFL debut, a full 19 months after suffering one of the most gruesome knee injuries anyone had ever seen.

Marker Malloy criticizes firing; N.D. reportedly to meet with former Irish QB Clements [5:47 PM]
AP reports: 'Clements, 51, has connections to two of Notre Dame's most successful coaches. He played under Ara Parseghian, leading the 1973 team to a national championship, and was an assistant under Lou Holtz from 1992-95. ''He has a good football mind, he's a good, solid person, and he's a Notre Dame alum,'' Holtz told The Associated Press on Wednesday.'

Marker Bills place TE Campbell on injured reserve [4:40 PM]
Sportsticker reports: 'While the team did not release the full extent of the injury, Campbell hurt his knee while blocking for running back Willis McGahee late in the first quarter of Sunday's 42-32 victory over the Miami Dolphins.'

Marker Browns go with rookie over Garcia again [4:20 PM]
AP reports: 'Jeff Garcia's right shoulder isn't the only thing strained for Cleveland's quarterback. His relationship with the Browns doesn't appear to be much better.'

Marker Improved offenses spark turnarounds [3:57 PM]
ESPN reports: 'McGahee, though, has provided a hammer for the offense, a workhorse back who can set a game's tempo and keep opposition defenses honest. The former University of Miami star, now back to full strength following his lengthy rehabilitation from the catastrophic knee injury he sustained on the final carry of his college career, clearly experienced a longer breaking-in period than most. Over the last seven games, though, McGahee has been breaking down defenses.'

Marker Bills lose tight end for remainder of season [3:53 PM]
The Sports Network reports: 'Rookie Tim Euhus will move into the starting role for the Bills. He caught four passes for 32 yards with a touchdown in the 42-32 win over the Dolphins, and this season has 11 catches for 98 yards with a pair of scores.'

Marker Bills Sign TE Trafford [3:09 PM] reports: 'Trafford spent time on the Bills practice squad last season before he was released prior to this season. He has spent the majority of this year on the Eagles practice squad.'

Marker Palmer among AFC weekly honorees [1:34 PM]
The Sports Network reports: 'Quarterback Carson Palmer of Cincinnati, cornerback Drayton Florence of San Diego and kick returner/cornerback Terrence McGee of Buffalo were named AFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for the 13th week of the 2004 season.'

Marker Big Game for Talley vs. Hometown Browns [12:42 PM] reports: '"The ball was being thrown to my brother on a ‘Big Dig’ route and I just ran down and jumped in front of it and caught the ball. I started to run down the field and as he started to close on me, Dwight Drane came up and hit my brother square in the face and knocked the snot out of him. I just ran the rest of the 60 yards."'

Marker Bills' TE Campbell out for rest of the season [12:38 PM]
AP reports: 'The Bills assigned tight end Rodney Trafford to fill in Campbell's spot on the roster. Trafford was on Buffalo's practice squad last year, but was released before the start of this season.'

Marker Bills Playing Like a Top Team in the NFL [12:37 PM] reports: Jonas Jennings was basically playing with one good arm against one of the league's best pass rushers in Jason Taylor. Taylor was held without a sack in both games against the Bills this season.

Marker Scouting report: Browns vs. Bills [10:39 AM]
Cleveland Plain Dealer reports: 'Coordinator Bobby April may be assistant coach of the year.'

Marker Silence says plenty about Price's play [8:52 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'For a backup offensive lineman, silence is a sign of production.'

Marker Irish eyes turn to Clements [8:51 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'A panel conducting the search for a new coach met Tuesday afternoon and apparently agreed to include Clements among the top candidates to take over the Fighting Irish.'

Marker Pataki promises Assembly Republicans $80,000 each [6:07 AM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: 'Republicans might try to recruit former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly to run for Congress in two years, according to the buzz in Western New York political circles.'

Marker McGee collects another AFC special teams honor [5:03 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'The Bills, meanwhile, have already tied an NFL mark with five returns for touchdowns in a season. Nate Clements and Jonathan Smith have returned punts for touchdowns. The other teams with five were the 1951 Giants (four punts, one kickoff), 1952 Steelers (three punts, two kickoffs), and 1959 Cardinals (five punts).'

Marker Bills could be a model for Browns [5:02 AM]
Cleveland Plain Dealer reports: 'People in Buffalo believe the Bills have survived the worst and now, in the fourth year of Donahoe's program, are heading for bigger and better things. "There was a lot of criticism. That's part of the job," Donahoe said from his office on Tuesday.'

Marker Bledsoe has Bills on their way back [5:01 AM]
Canton Repository reports: 'After six games, it appeared Bills management had lost its mind by hiring Mularkey. The team was averaging barely more than 11 points after a 20-6 loss at Baltimore. Since then, the Bills have topped 35 points four times. Bledsoe is back to being a threat, especially against a Cleveland team that has allowed 100 points the last two games.'

Marker Coaching search turns to Clements [5:00 AM]
Chicago Tribune reports: 'It is not clear how serious Notre Dame's interest is in Clements. The Irish likely want someone with head-coaching experience and a proven track record. But candidates who fit that description are becoming increasingly harder to find.'

Marker McGee Honored Again [8:59 PM]
WGR-AM reports: 'The Bills have tied the NFL record with five returns for touchdowns in a season.'

Marker KR McGee Earns AFC Honors - Again [5:01 PM] reports: 'The touchdown return was McGee's third of the season, putting him in an elite group in NFL history, as just 10 players have returned three-plus kickoffs for touchdowns in a season. The last player to accomplish this feat was Derrick Vaughn of Atlanta in 2000.'

Marker Evans big part of Bills' surge [3:53 PM]
ESPN reports: 'The Bills' second-half success has them at .500 for the first time this season and has suddenly made them a playoff contender, though reaching the postseason at this point remains very unlikely. But if Mularkey and Co. are searching for silver linings, they have certainly found one in the emergence of Evans.'
