Marker Competition at The Ralph [8:52 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Approximately 125 boys and girls who have qualified for the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick sectional competition will showcase their skills today from 1:15 to 4 p.m. in the Ralph Wilson Fieldhouse.'

Marker Sales of Bills merchandise soar [8:51 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"It is significantly better than last year and last year was a great year," said Jay Mininger, vice president of marketing at Dick's. "Winning makes a huge difference and the influx of new players has helped." Lawyer Milloy, Sam Adams and Takeo Spikes are some of the new faces boosting sales. And even though Willis McGahee hasn't played yet, people are snatching up his jersey.'

Marker Winning is never out of style with Vermeil [5:15 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Fletcher believes Vermeil has a soft spot in his heart for long shots because he was one himself. “I think his own coaching background, the way he came up through the ranks of high school, junior college and college, influenced him,” Fletcher says. “He had to work hard at it. He wasn’t given anything. So he appreciates the guys who have had to battle to get to the position they are in.”'

Marker Going gonzo [5:14 AM]
Kansas City Star reports: '“We're 7-0, are you kidding me?” Gonzalez said. “I understand that this window of opportunity is so small. To win in the NFL. We have a chance to do some damage coming up here if we can get in the playoffs. Hopefully we can get to the Super Bowl. I'm having a great time."'

Marker Chiefs notes [5:13 AM]
Kansas City Star reports: 'R-Kal Truluck, the right defensive end in passing situations before he sprained an ankle three weeks ago, took his normal turn in practice and appeared ready for Sunday's game against Buffalo at Arrowhead Stadium.'

Marker Chiefs should be healthy [5:12 AM]
Topeka Capital Journal reports: 'After missing the last two Buffalo games with a groin injury, Bills standout receiver Eric Moulds -- who has averaged 15 yards on each of his 30 catches in only five games -- could be closing to returning to action against the Chiefs. Bills coach Gregg Williams said Friday that Moulds had taken a decent number of practice repetitions this week and appeared close to playing Sunday night. Williams said Moulds might have been able to play in last week's Buffalo upset of Washington, but was held out as a precautionary measure.'

Marker KC hoping for help from home crowd [4:01 PM]
AP reports: '''It's one of the noisiest stadiums in the league,'' said Bills coach Gregg Williams. ''They're on a roll and the Chiefs are playing well. It can be a very frustrating place to play at, executing and doing what we're supposed to do. It's got a great reputation as being one of the most difficult places to play on the road.'''

Marker Shooting for consistency [1:01 PM]
The Sports Network reports: 'Look for the Bills to do their best to get Henry going early in this contest. They may have to mix things up a bit, though, as the Chiefs will surely be determined to shut Henry down.'

Marker Schobel: It's a Simple Game [11:45 AM] reports: '"I struggled in Kansas City last year. I didn't have a good game, so I have to show them I can play this time around."'

Marker Bills Need to Steal One [11:45 AM]
WOKR-TV reports: 'Bills 24 Chiefs 23.'

Marker Bills feel the rush from Schobel's play [8:56 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"I think I'm a pretty solid player, but I can always improve," he said. "I'm getting better each week. I'm not where I want to be at this point, but I'll get there soon."'

Marker Chiefs' 'D' answers when opportunity knocks [8:55 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Despite ranking just 27th in the NFL in total yards allowed, the Chiefs lead the league with 20 takeaways and are first in the AFC with 13 interceptions. They have returned three of those turnovers for touchdowns.'

Marker Hall achieves new heights [5:15 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: '“We’ve been covering punts fairly well, except for the one game that we were disappointed with,” said cover man Coy Wire. “There’s no question he’s the best returner in the league and we have a challenge on our hands, but I think we’re looking forward to it. There’s nothing to be scared about. He’s going to play his best game, and so are we.”'

Marker Chiefs, loud fans equal tough task [5:14 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'What makes the Arrowhead effect so unique is that it’s all natural. In many of the ear-splitting domes, the noise is artificial through the use of recorded sound effects and music. But at Arrowhead, the din is generated almost solely by the crowd.'

Marker Chiefs' success has Vermeil humbled [5:13 AM]
Toronto Star reports: 'Much of Vermeil's success can be attributed to his uncanny ability to get the most from unheralded players. He did it in St. Louis with Bills linebacker London Fletcher, who went undrafted in 1998.'

Marker The sack comes back in Chiefs defense [5:12 AM]
Kansas City Star reports: '“They don't blitz a lot,'' Bledsoe said. “But when they do, they're very effective with it. Even when you have the linebackers accounted for with your scheme, they're very good pass rushers and can shed a block and still get pressure. The Chiefs' defense will force us to not only account for those guys, but then to block them effectively."'

Marker Chiefs notes [5:11 AM]
Kansas City Star reports: 'Buffalo defensive end Pat Williams raised some eyebrows and provided the Chiefs with some bulletin-board material this week when he appeared on wide receiver Eric Moulds' television show and declared that the Bills are going to “shut down” Priest Holmes on Sunday night.'

Marker Grigsby to miss Chiefs broadcast Sunday [5:10 AM]
Kansas City Star reports: 'Longtime Chiefs announcer Bill Grigsby will miss the Chiefs-Bills game this Sunday because of health issues.'

Marker Bledsoe expects big week [5:09 AM]
Topeka Capital Journal reports: '"You watch them on film and you see they're very sound in what they do," Bledsoe said. "There are no easy plays to be made, no weaknesses you can exploit. You have to execute all the way up and down the field. And if you get sloppy, you make turnovers."'

Marker Peterson, K.C. riding high [5:08 AM]
Springfield News Leader reports: 'What allows Vermeil to so rapidly build championship teams? "He has a unique ability to motivate not only players but coaches and football support people to perform at a level that I think sometimes they don't even think they can perform at," Peterson said. "Dick finds a way to get the best out of these people, whoever they might be, whether it's the first player or the 53rd player (on the team). I don't know anybody who does it better."'

Marker Moulds Is Still Trying To Decide If He'll Play [5:07 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'The receiver says he's been taking it slow and then he gives it a push now and then. Moulds thinks the only thing left, is to get the power back in it. He'll work Friday and Saturday before making a determination on Sunday.'

The Sports Network reports: 'Moulds is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against unbeaten Kansas City. He has already missed games against the New York Jets and Washington Redskins the past two weeks.'

Marker Moorman ready to test leg against Hall's quick feet [8:48 PM]
AP reports: 'Moorman has gone from playing two seasons in NFL Europe and interviewing for part-time teaching jobs in support of his wife's pursuit of a law degree, to emerging as one of the NFL's top young punters. It began when he joined the Bills just before the start of training camp in 2001, an 11th-hour pickup by a salary-cap strapped team gambling on an unproven player.'

Marker Baker gives his best in what could be Chiefs' key game [8:45 PM]
AP reports: 'One thing Vermeil has always liked about Baker is his ability to tune out the noise and chaos and concentrate on the task at hand. His net average of 34.9 yards through seven games is not the best in the league. But it tops the net of 31.9 that the Chiefs' opponents have averaged.'

Marker Blessing In Disguise [4:59 PM]
WIVB-TV reports: 'I know the have said they want to run the ball. But, I hope it remains the priority when Moulds returns. If Henry is the first focus for the Bills, it will only help Moulds. It sure looked in losses to Miami and Philadelphia that those teams realized if they took Moulds out of the game they would win. Both teams did a good job of neutralizing Moulds. The test will be the next time they struggle with the run, and whether or not they will stick with it.'

Marker Bills' Reese fined $25,000 for knocking over official [4:52 PM]
AP reports: '``I was coming up for run support and putting my hands on his lower back, trying to guide him out of the way, because he never moved,'' Reese said. ``It was a play I really couldn't avoid. ... I barely touched him and he fell over.'''

AP reports: 'Johnson said he's enjoying spending time with his family at his home in North Carolina. He wouldn't say whether the Bills have made him an offer or when he'll make a decision on his future. The Bills would only say that Johnson is with the team as a visitor.'

Marker Q&A with Dick Vermeil [4:17 PM] reports: '“London Fletcher, for example, is one of my all-time favorites in coaching in my career. You bond specially with those kind of kids – at least I do. Dante Hall is another one here. A guy like London Fletcher brings far more to the table than tackles. He brings a sense of purpose and leadership to a football team that not many people can do."'
