Marker Blake still looking for new home [6:27 PM]
ESPN reports: 'And the Bills believe Blake might still be looking for a job two or three weeks from now, and will spend that time before the draft in earnest pursuit of a trade for New England backup quarterback Drew Bledsoe. Blake's agent, Ralph Cindrich, this week faxed the Bills a contract proposal. It called for a two-tiered signing bonus, $1 million this year and then $4.1 million in 2003, but Buffalo is hardly leaping to the phone to respond.'

Marker Donahoe Delivering for Bills [1:45 PM]
Empire Sports reports: "Donahoe is beginning to exhibit the front office skills that the national media and NFL insiders knew he had. He could have had several jobs but he chose instead to take the job in Buffalo."

Marker Bills sign ex-Broncos OT Trey Teague [1:29 PM]
Pro Football Weekly reports: @ Desperate to improve their offensive line, the Bills signed free-agent OT Trey Teague to a four-year, $10 million contract with a two-tiered signing bonus of $3.5 million that will be spread over this year and next. Teague, 27, played his first four years in the league with Denver. He started all 16 games at left tackle for the Broncos last year.

Buchsbaum: At one point, the Broncos felt Teague was going to be a good replacement for Tony Jones at left tackle. But last year as a starter, he really struggled. The Bills feel he?ll be an upgrade over John Fina, and now that he?s got the starting experience under his belt, he?ll only get better. He is a good athlete and he does have good feet.

Marker Lonely Down There [1:16 PM]
The Sporting News reports: @ You almost have to feel bad for the Bills, who have an early season schedule against the Jets, Vikings, Broncos, Bears and Raiders that could leave them at 0-5. Don't look for any Bills sleepers until the second part of the year.

THE EDGE GOES TO . . .

Five winners: Dolphins, Browns, Vikings, Packers, Cardinals.
Five losers: Giants, Bengals, Rams, Bills, Patriots.

Marker Being in the East makes Bills' schedule a beast [9:07 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The Bills' schedule is tied for eighth-toughest in the league - based on last year's records, which, of course, is not always a reliable indicator of this year's performance.'

Marker Bills making great strides to rebuild [9:06 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'But be honest, aren't you a little intrigued and encouraged by what's been taking place out at One Bills Drive?'

Marker Local legend has heard and said it all [9:05 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'But the little guy at the little station made a big splash when, disappointed with the Bills' offensive performances, he criticized the organization for misusing quarterback Jim Kelly. That's when then-Bills GM Polian made his famous statement, "Marv Levy is my coach. Jim Kelly is my quarterback. And if you don't like it, you can get out of town." "You're finally getting your wish," Wander told Polian in the last half-hour of his show. "I'm getting out of town."'

Marker Bills denied prime time this season [5:17 AM]
D and C reports: 'All 16 games this year will be on Sunday afternoons.'

Marker Bills playing waiting game in search for quarterback [5:16 AM]
D and C reports: '"What we're doing is looking at all of our options right now," general manager Tom Donahoe said. "We may sign one, we might not sign anyone. All we're doing right now is research and trying to figure out what makes the most sense for our team. We're trying to stay in the loop with these players and see what might happen."'

Marker Teague signs; Trade down or DT likely [11:35 AM]
Shout! reports: @ Bills fans can just about forget acquiring LTs Bryant McKinnie or Mike Williams in the NFL Draft. By signing left tackle Trey Teague to a four-year, $10 million deal, Buffalo has basically made Teague, 6'5", 292 pounds the starting left tackle of the future.

Marker Here's a possible draft scenario, but don't mock me [11:26 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: @ When Buffalo signed Denver LT Trey Teague, it could have signaled that the Bills will not take one of the two outstanding tackles available in this draft. They have a rising star on the right side in second-year tackle Jonas Jennings, so perhaps it's a hint they'll take Oregon QB Joey Harrington or trade out of the spot. We're saying they're taking Harrington.

Marker Bills kicker options evaporating quickly [10:19 AM]
ESPN reports: 10. Special opportunities: The Bills still need to get a kicker but the options are evaporating quickly. They have restricted free agent Phil Dawson of the Browns scheduled for a visit next week. After that, they'll have to focus on Mike Hollis of the Jaguars or Doug Brien of the Bucs. Expect Gary Anderson to re-sign in Minnesota and Steve Christie to go to San Diego.

Marker Bears make offer to Chandler [10:05 AM]
ChicagoBears.com reports: @ GM Jerry Angelo revealed Wednesday that the club extended a contract offer to veteran free agent Chris Chandler this past weekend and expects a response from agent Frank Bauer by Friday. Chandler, whose role with the Bears would be to back up Miller, is believed to be investigating potential starting opportunities in Buffalo, Carolina and Washington.

Marker Rookie Review: Ron Edwards [9:32 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: Everything was cool and great up until the night before draft day, then everything got a little bit shaky. I was a little nervous so I had to call my dad to have him calm me down.

Marker Wilson believes Bills will be sight for sore eyes [8:58 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"Hey, we have a great organization," Wilson said last week in an interview with The News. "We have the best organization we've ever had in terms of talent evaluation."'

Marker Talks Continue With Veteran Quarterback Blake [5:28 AM]
Washington Post reports: 'Sources said that Blake is seeking as much as $6 million in guaranteed payments, and no club has been willing to pay that thus far.'

Marker Bills make deal with Teague [5:15 AM]
D and C reports: '"The main thing with doing it, is so we don't get forced into necessarily taking a certain position," Donahoe said Wednesday after officially announcing Teague's signing. "It just gives you a chance to go into the draft and look at who the best players available are and make a decision based on that."'

Marker Will Bills stay in Buffalo after Wilson is gone? [5:15 AM]
D and C reports: 'Though Ralph is a spry 83-year-old, he won't live forever. Is there an ownership group in place that would make the commitment to western New York that Ralph has?'

Marker Bills retain all three young cornerbacks [8:23 PM]
ESPN reports: 'The Buffalo Bills have retained a key element of their young secondary, reaching contract accord with three-year veteran cornerback Chris Watson, a restricted free agent. By re-signing Watson, the No. 3 cornerback on the roster, the Bills keep intact one of the NFL's best young corner corps. Watson is a top "nickel" player and the prime backup to starters Antoine Winfield and Nate Clements. None of the three is older than 24 and all are excellent in coverage.'

Marker Vic Carucci Live Chat transcript [4:38 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: On Trey Teague signing: This signing definitely diminishes the need for an offensive tackle. It's a great pickup because the Bills now have a known quantity, a player with experience who doesn't have to be broken in as a rookie would. I think they could concentrate on a defensive lineman and/or a safety in the first round.

Marker Speed is only a factor if it is functional speed [2:34 PM]
ESPN reports: Buffalo general manager Tom Donahoe, one of the NFL's premier talent scouts, continues to insist the 40 times is only a small part of a player's résumé. He recalled that former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Chuck Noll won four Super Bowl championships by stressing "playing strength and playing speed."

Speed is only a factor, Donahoe said, if it is functional speed. If a player runs 4.2 on a track but plays at 4.7 once he puts on he pads, the dropoff in efficiency is significant. "You look at a kid on tape and he's making all kinds of plays," Donahoe said. "But then you time him and he's kind of average. Does that make him a different player because he didn't run fast that one day? We don't think so. We try to look at the entire picture."

Marker Will Blake make the roster? [2:02 PM]
WKBW reports: @ The Bills probably will know by the middle of the week whether they'll have quarterback Jeff Blake on the roster. His agent says Blake is a day or two away from deciding where to go.

Marker Trey Teague agrees to deal with Bills [2:02 PM]
AP reports: 'Teague was a durable starter for the Denver last season after missing the final 14 games of the 2000 season with a knee injury. He was drafted in the seventh round by Denver out of Tennessee in 1998.'

Marker Bills sign Teague and re-sign Watson Official Release [11:18 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: Orchard Park, NY - The Bills today announced that the team has agreed to terms with offensive tackle Trey Teague, an unrestricted free agent, and also reached agreement on a new contract with restricted free agent cornerback Chris Watson.

Marker First hand account of Buffalo Bills Booster Meeting [9:45 AM]
The Stadium Wall reports: Marques Sullivan spoke, prior to the news of Trey Teague. He is HUGE, and seems very shy. He just got back to Buffalo on Monday so he didn't have much news to pass along.

Tony Driver has been here all along, and what a nice guy he is. Got into the crowd and joked with a lot of the people, and even hassled Sullivan with some questions. Driver says his ACL is coming along ahead of schedule and the trainers are pulling back the reigns a bit to ensure he heals correctly. He won't participate heavily in the mini-camps.

Both seem to be tremendous representatives for the Buffalo Bills. Both were very positive with the moves that have been made in the off-season, and both emphasized that Bills fans will not be disappointed.

Marker Bills reach deal with Denver tackle [9:01 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Teague approved a four-year deal worth a total of about $10 million that includes a two-tiered signing bonus, the source said. Teague will get a signing bonus of about $1.5 million this year. If the Bills are satisfied with him, they have the option of giving him a second signing bonus before next season.'
