Marker Urbik’s grab highlights drills at Bills camp [1:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The Bills were not good enough on goal-to-go situations last season, ranking 29th in the NFL in touchdown percentage. Sunday’s practice was the first chance to set a new tone for this season.'

Marker A step forward [1:58 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The offense rebounded a bit from its miserable showing Saturday night by scoring on 5 of 8 plays in a live goal-line drill against the defense.'

Marker Bills' offense struggling [1:57 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'For the first time since camp began, the Bills played real tackle football and conducted one full "live" period of close to 20 plays where the defense was allowed to tackle to the ground. Throughout that session, there very few highlights for the offense, though the prime emphasis was on the running game and Bryce Brown and Ronnie Wingo got the bulk of the carries.'

Marker Bills coach Doug Marrone says he's 'pretty much upset all the time' [1:56 AM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: '"I always have a high level of frustration," Marrone said. "I do. It’s the way I’m built. I want it to be perfect, and a lot of times I feel like I can do a better job and why what I’m saying isn’t getting across and how I can say it better. When it comes down to the line, I take a lot of pride in how I communicate with them. When they don’t get it or don’t seem to understand it, I get upset."'

Marker Scott Chandler injury: Bills tight end leaves practice after hurting groin [1:55 AM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: '"I don't really get too concerned with the injury aspect of it," Marrone said after practice. "In a way I look at it as we're able to put some different people in there without having to go out and bring another person in.'

Marker EJ Manuel likes Mike Williams as red-zone threat and 5 observations from Bills training camp [1:54 AM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: '"Mike is going to be a huge asset for us out wide," quarterback EJ Manuel said. "He's a guy who, in the red zone, teams will know we're going to him, and even though they'll know I'm throwing to him he'll still be able to come down with some balls."'

Marker Bills DE Williams focusing on wins, not production [1:53 AM]
AP reports: '"Football is a complete and ultimate team sport. No matter what level of talent you bring in, it's not one individual," Williams said. "I said it then: 'You can't have one person completely change the whole culture.' It can never be one person, no matter how great you are."'

Marker Bills down another TE after Chandler hurts groin [1:52 AM]
AP reports: 'Coach Doug Marrone didn't have an immediate update on the severity of the injury or how much time Chandler might miss. Chandler was hurt early during the training camp session on Sunday, and did not return after being escorted to the locker room.'

Marker Tight ends take another hit: Bills' Chandler injured Sunday [1:51 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'With the third injury to the group, the Bills are now down to two healthy tight ends on their roster in Lee Smith and Dominique Jones, who was just signed by the team on Saturday. Marrone hinted that the team may use some players already on the roster to help out at the spot in the interim, rather than going out and signing another free agent.'

Marker Bills training camp observations: Day 7 [1:50 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'Head coach Doug Marrone introduced live hitting on Saturday for the first time in 2014 and they kept that going for a second straight day, giving the team their first taste of goal line work. Compared to their efforts on Saturday, specifically by the offense, Sunday brought about much more optimism.'

Marker 4 takeaways from Sunday's practice at Bills camp [1:49 AM] reports: '“I’m just trying to come out here every single day and make the best of my opportunities and make the plays when they present themselves,” Hogan said.'

Marker Bills move Monday's camp practice to 6 PM [1:48 AM] reports: 'The practice will still be open to the public. No tickets are required in order for fans to attend the practice session.'

Marker Gilmore back to his physical style [1:47 AM] reports: '“It feels good,” said Gilmore. “That was my first time ever having surgery and getting hurt so it feels good to be back to myself and be out there having fun and be playing how I know how to play. It helped me out a lot. I’ve never struggled like that before when I had that surgery on my hand so it helped me out a lot. It humbled me and I feel good now so I’m ready to go help this team win.”'

Marker Graham excited to be back in Buffalo [7:12 PM]
Canandaigua Daily Messenger reports: '“There are guys that can go out and make a lot of plays and we've just got to get together and be on the same page,” Graham said. “We've got a bunch of talent on defense and even on offense we've got a bunch of speed out there — some receivers and running backs that can fly. When you have playmakers like that you give yourself a chance to win games in this league.”'

Marker Battle is on at right guard for Bills [1:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Just how serious a challenge Chris Hairston will be able to mount against incumbent Kraig Urbik remains to be seen, because Hairston is coming off a full year of inactivity and still is trying to work himself back into top condition.'

Marker Front four dominates in Bills’ practice [1:58 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '“We understand if we can block our front four, then we’ll be able to block about anybody,” said center Eric Wood. “For my money I think they’re the best in the league. But that’s no excuse. We gotta do a better job. I think in regular down and distance we’re doing a good job of understanding situations. But when we do all third downs and all third and long, we’re not executing as well right now.”'

Marker A sack attack [1:57 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The defense dominated the offense as the team worked a lot on third-down situations. The offense looked miserable, giving up eight sacks in one 17-snap stretch.'

Marker Teams have upper hand in stadium negotiations [1:56 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'But a larger question looms first: Do taxpayers get their money’s worth by public dollars helping to build sports stadiums?'

Marker Bills football brings people together [1:55 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'We’re a community, because of our love for our team. But more importantly, because of our struggle. A playoff drought of 14 years and the memory of four straight Super Bowl losses have made their mark on Buffalo Bills history. And yet this team has fans that will tailgate in the most severe weather and sit in the same seats every Sunday until the day they die! Why? Because we are the BUFFALO Bills, The City of Good Neighbors, The city that doesn’t give up. Not on our team. Not on each other. And that can’t be taken from us.'

Marker Chris Hairston back with Bills [1:54 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'However, a funny thing happened along the way: Coach Doug Marrone, an old offensive lineman at heart, decided to give Hairston some reps at the guard positions to see how he'd do. Hairston had never played inside at any point, but the 320-pounder did pretty well, and through the first week of training camp he's been getting more time inside than he has at his natural tackle position.'

Marker Could the Buffalo Bills trade C.J. Spiller? It's not a farfetched idea [1:53 AM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: 'Spiller is entering the final year of his contract and is going to be 27 years old in August. Those two facts alone make his future in Buffalo beyond 2014 uncertain. Will the Bills be willing to pay Spiller what he wants as he inches closer to 30? He struggled through injuries last season and would need a fully healthy year to justify a big contract extension. In terms of cost, Spiller is going to require the biggest investment among the backs on the roster.'

Marker Bills players don't honor Doug Marrone's birthday wish of a Harley Davidsion [1:52 AM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: 'More than a motorcycle, Marrone would likely just appreciate a winning season from his players. The last two night practices have provided Marrone with plenty of frustration as his team prepares for the Hall of Fame Game against the New York Giants on Aug. 2.'

Marker Bills sign TE Dominique Jones because Tony Moeaki will miss 'significant time' with hamstring injury [1:51 AM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: 'Doug Marrone said Moeaki will miss "significant time," but maybe not the rest of training camp.'

Marker EJ Manuel, Bills offense struggle and 5 observations from Day 6 of training camp [1:50 AM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: 'Quarterback EJ Manuel wasn't particularly sharp, and that made it difficult for the offense to get going. It was the first practice with live hitting, so that may have played a part, but Saturday was the culmination of a week where the offense often has lagged behind the defense.'

Marker Catching up with Jim Schwartz [1:49 AM]
SI reports: '“There’s talent here, and I had a strong feeling for Coach Marrone. I never worked with him. I just knew him a little bit when he was at Syracuse and he came over to Detroit a couple times. But he worked for the Jets as the offensive line coach when Mike Heimerdinger was their offensive coordinator, and “Dinger’’ and I worked together for eight or nine years in Tennessee. So I knew how much respect Dinger had for him, and we talked about the job and I thought it was a good fit. I’m really excited and I think we have some pieces defensively that give us the ability to play the game we need to play it. We’ve got corners who can cover, we’ve got guys up front who can win and it’s an exciting opportunity.’’'

Marker Sammy Watkins a star; will he make EJ Manuel better? [1:48 AM]
CBS Sports reports: 'Time will tell if Watkins is the cog to hasten the overall offensive maturation of this unit. If he puts up a rookie-of-the-year season, it would hardly come as a shock. But if it comes during yet another six-win season, might that come at a price?'

Marker Moeaki out indefinitely with hamstring injury [1:47 AM]
AP reports: 'The hamstring injury is the latest injury setback for the 27-year-old, whose career has been plagued by injuries thus far.'

Marker With Moeaki out a while, Bills sign tight end to roster [1:46 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'Following the release of Mike Caussin earlier in the week, the Bills lost both Tony Moeaki and Chris Gragg to injury which left them with only two tight ends on the roster. Moeaki will be out with a hamstring injury for "a significant amount of time" according to head coach Doug Marrone. The head coach clarified that "significant" could mean missing three, or four days of work, and with that reasoning, he did not give a timetable for the tight end's return.'

Marker Bills training camp observations: Day 6 [1:45 AM]
WGR-AM reports: '8 sacks in 17 plays.'

Marker Hughes and Lawson could be lethal edge combo [1:44 AM] reports: '“When we sub in like that it’s going to be great because we’ll be able to change it up,” Hughes told “One minute you’re going to get me and the next minute you’re going to get Manny. He’s a long, big, strong, physical guy and I do stuff different from the way he does it. Both of us are going to be coming at you and it’s going to be fun I can tell you that.”'
