Marker May God be with all of you [12:21 AM]
Scott Sarama reports: My family started the day by celebrating my birthday. However, the celebration soon ended when I found myself sitting at the blood bank for 5 hours performing my civic duty.

Today I almost lost my supervisor. He was booked on the flight that went down in PA this morning. Fortunately, he was called out to the west coast a day early and changed his flight. This change of events allowed two small girls to keep their father today. It allowed a woman to keep her husband. It allowed a small group of employees to keep jobs that provide for their own families.

Thousands of others were not so lucky.

Reading the posts on our message board, the Stadium Wall, is a chilling experience. Fellow Bills fans turned to our community for updated news and to check on friends from NYC and Washington DC. Those fans located frighteningly near the attacks shared their experiences as the day's events unfolded. These personal stories have made today's tragic events more tangible. Having this community to lean on during times like this is a blessing I will never take for granted.

On behalf of our community, I would like to send a prayer to each and every person who has been directly affected by these attacks. May God be with you in thought and in deed as we all search for some semblance of resolution to today's events.

Buffalo News reports: 'Kenyatta Wright always wondered if he would ever be good enough to start in the National Football League. He's about to find out.'

Marker Cowart injury ups pressure on newcomers [9:04 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Who do they feed off now? Kenyatta Wright? Erik Flowers? If the defense was feeding off anyone, it didn't show in the third quarter Sunday, when the Saints blew them off the field.'

Marker Christie, Bills held together by a thread [9:03 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The reserve-injured list is basically the same as injured reserve. The difference is that a player on injured reserve gets his full salary. By working out a settlement with Christie while he's on the reserve-injured list, the Bills could bring him back after the 10th week of the season. If he stayed on that list all year or was put on injured reserve and released when healthy, the Bills lose all rights to him.'

Marker History not in Buffalo's favor [6:54 AM]
Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel reports: 'But Wannstedt said Cowart's injury won't cause the Dolphins to ease up in this week's preparation. "It's a division game," Wannstedt said. "That will be huge in itself. We know Buffalo, they've always been tough. The rivalry is as good as any we have."'

Marker Cowart could be out for year [5:45 AM]
D and C reports: 'Coach Gregg Williams said a magnetic resonance imaging exam revealed that Cowart suffered a partial tear of his Achilles' -- the tendon at the back of the heel -- while back-pedaling in pass coverage during the first quarter of Sunday's 24-6 loss to the New Orleans Saints in the season opener. While Cowart will not require surgery at this time, he has been fitted with a walking cast and "he's going to miss some significant time," said Williams, who would not give a specific time frame.'

Marker Centers says winning is an attitude [5:44 AM]
D and C reports: '"I'd like to see us upset about this loss," he said of the Saints' game in which Buffalo squandered a 6-0 halftime lead. "Right now, it's hard to gauge the feeling in the locker room. Everyone is a little quiet. But you've got to hate to lose as much as you enjoy to win and young guys have to understand that and play accordingly next week."'

Marker Christie senses Bills career over [5:43 AM]
D and C reports: 'Donahoe, who did speak with Christie's agent, said he and Williams tried unsuccessfully to contact Christie. Donahoe said he hoped to sit down with Christie in the near future to talk.'

Marker Door open for Christie to return to Bills [5:42 AM]
Toronto Sun reports: '"It would be difficult for me to consider signing back with them," Christie said last night. "I'm not saying I wouldn't, but let me ask you this: Would you trust them after what happened? I have my doubts."'

Marker Buffalo weather just like home to Saints [5:41 AM]
Baton Rouge Advocate reports: 'The Saints made a key adjustment on offense at halftime. After knocking heads with the Bills defense, which stacked eight and nine men at or near the line most of the first two periods, the Saints spread their offense with four receivers in the hopes of opening running lanes for Ricky Williams.'

Marker Christie angry over how Bills gave him the boot [5:40 AM]
AP reports: '"I've tried to handle the business side with class, and I really don't think in this case they did," said Christie, the most accomplished kicker in Bills history. "I've been here a long time and I've made Buffalo my home. For them to handle this situation like they did was unacceptable, unacceptable."'

Marker Saints were never worried in Buffalo game [5:39 AM]
AP reports: '"Basically all I said was that the defense is holding its end. If you can make teams kick field goals in the red zone and don't give up touchdowns you have a chance to win the game," Haslett said. "So we just had to go out and play our type of football on offense, that's run the ball wear people out, take advantage of the plays you get, don't put the ball on the ground, and we did it."'

Marker Bills MLB Cowart out indefinitely with torn Achilles tendon [5:38 AM]
Sportsticker reports: 'Rookie Brandon Spoon, a fourth-round pick out of North Carolina, is listed as the backup middle linebacker, but the Bills may shift reserve outside linebackers -- Kenyatta Wright or DaShon Polk -- into the middle.'

Marker Spriggs tears ACL - out for season [7:33 PM]
AP reports: Dolphins Coach Wannstedt announced on Monday that Marcus Spriggs suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in the 4th quarter of Miami's 31-23 win at Tennessee on Sunday night and will miss the rest of the season.

Spriggs, 27, spent the first 4 seasons of his career with the Buffalo Bills.

Marker Bills' Cowart out indefinitely [3:28 PM]

Greg Williams Press Conference reports: It is a partial achilles tear. GW just announced it at his press conference.

Marker Saints put a crushing on the Bills [1:42 PM]
Olean Times Herald reports: '...the immediate question for Williams is which Bills are the real ones. Are they the team that held the Saints to 27 yards and no first downs on 16 plays before a 38-yard Hail Mary on the final play of the first half? Are they the team that rushed for 104 yards and enjoyed a nearly 14-minute edge in time of possession in the opening two periods? Or are they the team that mustered only 78 yards, turned the ball over twice and were pounded for 24 points over the final 30 minutes?'

Marker A tale of two halves for Saints [1:41 PM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'Despite the paltry numbers, New Orleans' players said that no one was angry or mad in the locker room during halftime. "We didn't get too riled," Williams said. "We were just upset because we were playing so horrible."'

Marker Knight has big day for Saints [1:39 PM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'In assessing their performance, Bills' defensive end Phil Hansen noted, "I thought they did a pretty good job. They didn't contribute to our loss ... we contributed to our loss."'

Marker 5th Down: Nothing kicks this kicker's confidence [1:21 PM] reports: A good piece by Tim O'Shei on Jake Arians. He has received some coaching on Buffalo’s tricky autumn winds from former Bills punter Chris Mohr. With the Falcons this summer, Mohr and Arians were roommates. “We talked a lot about different stuff,” Arians said. “We actually talked a lot about Buffalo, the winds. Arians has known Mohr for several years.

Marker Just plain clueless [10:41 AM] reports: Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback: "... you get into the game and see John Fina, supposedly the anchor of this group, playing like an Arena League cuttee and letting the Saints turnstile him on the way to Rob Johnson. Then there's the matter of adjusting to the West Coast offense, a Buffalo first, and switching from the 3-4 to the 4-3. I mean, who in their right mind could have predicted how the Bills would play in the opener, not to mention this season?"

Buffalo News reports: 'After seven months of buildup, the Gregg Williams regime got under way Sunday - with disappointing results.'

Marker Saints take Bills to finishing school [9:08 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Whenever they get first-and-goal on the 1-yard line, they had better score a touchdown. And whenever their quarterback throws three interceptions, they are virtually assured of losing. Those were the realities played out in the Bills' 24-6 season-opening loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.'

Marker Henry gives backfield an attitude [9:07 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Henry ran for 58 yards on 22 carries in the Bills' 24-6 loss to the New Orleans Saints, but his performance was better than the numbers might indicate.'

Marker Ricky takes charge in second half [9:07 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"I really didn't run it in the first half," said the 5-foot-10, 240-pound Williams. "They came out in the Bears' defense and we practiced all week for it, but I don't think we really thought they were going to play it. We came out in the second half and gave them some different looks and we did a good job."'

Marker Film will only confirm Johnson came unreeled [9:06 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'He did not get knocked out of the game. That's a positive. But the new offense was a huge disappointment. It's supposed to put pressure on defenses by giving the QB multiple options, but that didn't stop the Saints from taking Moulds out of the game.'
