Marker Bills-Chiefs Pregame Notebook [5:16 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'Overall, the Bills have played 13 games against opponents that were undefeated after at least four games and Buffalo is 8-5 in this games (7-2 at home).'

Marker Chiefs will see what they're made of as they reach for 8-0 [5:10 PM]
Kansas City Star reports: '"We realize we haven't put the fear of God into any of the teams that are evaluating us right now," Vermeil said. "If I was coaching against us, I would say, `Gee, if they hadn't returned the punt...' or `If they hadn't returned the kickoff...' or `If they hadn't returned the interception....' That's how you counter the positives if you're coaching against us."'

Marker Bills hope to quiet Chiefs' fans [9:10 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"They have outstanding fans who show up with great intensity," said quarterback Drew Bledsoe. "It's all red and yellow when you go in there. They're very smart about when they cheer, when they make noise. Also the shape of that stadium, being a full bowl, I think it holds some of the noise in."'

Marker Can you hear me now? It's time for the Bills to stow the talk [9:09 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'It's time for the Bills to let their deeds do the talking. They've looked like an average team for a month. But they can make a statement tonight in front of a national TV audience. By beating an unbeaten Kansas City team on the road, they can reassert themselves as a legitimate playoff contender.'

Marker Chiefs provide a measuring stick for Bills [9:08 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The Chiefs were expected to be good, but not have an unblemished record seven weeks into the season. Coach Dick Vermeil deserves a lot of credit. In his third season, he has instilled poise and confidence in a team that lacked both.'

Marker Unfair catch [9:07 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'What to do? The best option for the Bills appears to be pitching around him.'

Marker It's too late for Rob to turn over a new leaf [9:06 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Amazingly, Johnson got sacked more frequently after he left Buffalo than he did before. He was sacked once every 7.0 dropbacks with the Bills but went down once every 5.3 with the Bucs and 'Skins. For his career, he has been sacked 137 times in 930 dropbacks, a rate of once for every 6.78 pass plays. According to Stats Inc., that's No. 1 since '69, ahead of Bobby Douglass, who played for the Bears in the '70s. Douglass went down once every 7.5 dropbacks. Another ex-Bear, Steve Fuller, is third at 8.0.'

Marker Blues beset Bills on road [5:20 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'In their last two away games against Miami and the New York Jets, the Bills were nothing more than road kill, losing by a combined 47-10 score. But their traveling sickness extends way back to last season, when they lost their final four road games, starting in Kansas City and continuing at the Jets, New England and Green Bay. That makes them 1-6 in their last seven away trips after a brief but fleeting 4-2 stretch under the beleaguered Williams.'

Marker The Scouting Report [5:19 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Statistically, Kansas City's defense looks porous. It ranks 27th overall and 31st in rushing yards allowed per attempt. However, in this case the numbers are deceiving. These are the key stats: The Chiefs are No. 1 in the NFL with 20 takeaways, and a respectable 12th in points allowed.'

Marker Q&A: Rian Lindell [5:18 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'OK, how do you plan to kick off to Dante Hall?
“Punting is a little more challenging because the Chiefs can do more, but I think on kickoffs, you just have to kick it solid and give your coverage team a chance.” '

Marker AFC East ranks as deepest NFL division [5:17 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'The Bills rate a notch below Miami defensively (despite what the stats say) but they also have all the pieces to field the division’s best-balanced offense. Lack of consistency has been the team’s biggest problem.'

Marker Vermeil concerned about Bills’ improved defense [5:16 AM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'And, oh yeah, the Chiefs lead the AFC with a plus-11 giveaway/takeaway ratio. It all adds up to a major test for Buffalo in one of the NFL’s toughest venues.'

Marker Vermeil has succeeded on merit [5:15 AM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'Vermeil is 3-0 against Buffalo — having beaten them as coach of the Eagles, Rams and Chiefs — the best record he has against any of the 31 teams he’s faced.'

Marker Dante an inferno [5:14 AM]
Toronto Sun reports: '"It's been very frustrating," Hall said. "Now we're to the point where we don't know what (the kicker) is doing. It's tough on my guys blocking for me because you really can't get back and get set. That's why we were so successful the first four weeks because the timing was down."'

Marker Chiefs, Bills share history and championship hunger [5:13 AM]
Kansas City Star reports: 'Their owners are living, breathing embodiments of pro football history. Buffalo's Ralph Wilson and Kansas City's Lamar Hunt helped establish the AFL. With the six other AFL owners, they were called the "Foolish Club" -- although Wilson and Hunt didn't look so foolish when they helped push through the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.'

Marker Bledsoe looking for a little help [5:12 AM]
Kansas City Star reports: '"Yeah, we need to go on the road and beat a good team," Bledsoe said. "No question. That's where we have to make our progress. That's what good teams do, and if we want to win a championship around here, that's what we have to do."'

Marker Bills just another team now to Chiefs QB Collins [5:11 AM]
Kansas City Star reports: '"I do think about it," he said. "But they've been through two quarterbacks since then, too. They brought in Rob Johnson, and then they brought in (Doug) Flutie. I don't know if I really wanted to be a part of that."'

Marker You can't argue with perfection [5:10 AM]
Kansas City Star reports: 'See, you can't be, as so many commentators have griped about the Chiefs the last week, an imperfect 7-0, any more than you can score an imperfect 1600 on the SAT or go an imperfect five for five in baseball. Perfect is perfect. Sure, the Chiefs needed incredible Dante Hall returns to clinch victories against Baltimore and Denver, an interception and fumble against Green Bay, a tackle at the 1-yard line against Oakland. But you know what? They got every one of those things.'

Marker Chiefs out to show they're more than lucky [5:09 AM]
Topeka Capital Journal reports: 'A team pegged for the Super Bowl after season-opening wins over New England and Jacksonville, the Bills were prematurely assigned to the Toilet Bowl after a 30-3 loss to the Jets and an overtime win over the Bengals. But with Travis Henry fully healthy again and running for a career-high 167 yards last week, the Bills are a solid 4-3 after their season-high 432-yard offensive performance -- despite the absence of leading receiver Eric Moulds -- in a convincing 24-7 win over Washington.'

Marker Chiefs' perfect start isn't perfect [5:08 AM]
Wichita Eagle reports: 'As a matter of fact, the Bills do see a crack of light. "You do get a little more juiced up for a team that looks like it's trying to run away with the season," Buffalo quarterback Drew Bledsoe said. "We know this game, we know everyone has a flaw. Of course, Kansas City isn't perfect. Of course they can be beaten. We're going in there thinking we're going to be the ones to do it."'

Marker Keep him in mind [5:07 AM]
Wichita Eagle reports: 'But teams are getting better and better at avoiding kicking to Hall, who had returned kicks for touchdowns in an NFL-record four straight games before being shut out the last two weeks. Buffalo has promised to give Hall the same treatment. "Boy, that makes me mad," Hall said. "It's like if you're trying to play video games, and you're so good that no one will play you. Then you don't get to play, so it's not fun anymore. It's the same thing. I want to play."'

Marker Holmes heart of Chiefs offense [5:06 AM]
St. Petersburg Times reports: '"The most dangerous thing they do with Priest is they give him a lot of different things to do," defensive tackle Sam Adams said. "If he runs up the middle and you stack the middle, then he runs to the perimeter, then they give him a draw, then they give him a screen. They change the personnel and do a lot of shifts and motions to try to disguise their basic plays. They get him the ball a lot of different ways."'

Marker Chiefs to take on inconsistent Bills [5:05 AM]
AP reports: 'Williams' Buffalo Bills stand 4-3 because, unlike the more-fortunate Chiefs, fate keeps insisting they pay for their mistakes.'

Marker Sedgwick's Moorman gets to play Dante Game [5:04 AM]
AP reports: 'Moorman currently ranks third in the league, averaging 47.6 yards, and sixth when factoring in return yards. Impressive for a guy with a slim 6-foot, 175-pound frame.'

Marker Moulds Is Improving. Has A Chance To Play In K.C. [6:57 PM]
WGR-AM reports: 'Moulds did well, but Williams says he'll still need to work out Sunday to see if he can play. He's missed two weeks with a slightly torn groin. Sammy Morris is in the same boat according to the head coach.'

Marker Q&A QB Trent Green [5:07 PM]
kcchiefs.com reports: 'Q: Do you think those comments about shutting down (RB) Priest Holmes will motivate this team? GREEN: “I hope it doesn’t take something like that to motivate this team. The bulletin board material. I would like to think that guys are prepared whether someone says something or not. If that helps motivate their team, that’s great. We know we are at home and we haven’t been at home in over three weeks. We have had two great road victories. We are anticipating the crown being fired up and on national television, making it as difficult as possible for Buffalo. That’s what this team is focused on.”'

Marker Key match-ups [5:01 PM]
kcchiefs.com reports: 'The reason Holliday will be licking his chops on Sunday is that the last time he faced the Western New York foes (12/22/02) he racked up a career-high and Packer record 5.0 sacks while playing in the Green and Gold.'

Marker The franchise builder [8:54 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"He's the main reason I'm in the NFL right now," said Bills linebacker London Fletcher, who signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent from John Carroll University in 1998. "He's the rare coach who really gave free agents, undrafted free agents, long shots, a true opportunity to make the football team and not look at them as just a (training) camp body. He really had a lot of confidence in my abilities. He put himself on the line and took a chance, and it worked out well for both of us."'

Marker Moulds passes test, may play Sunday [8:53 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The Bills conducted a rare Friday night practice in the team's field house. Williams changed the schedule to get his team prepared for Sunday night's game. Williams said that it was the best practice of the week. "It was very crisp," he said.'

Marker Competition at The Ralph [8:52 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Approximately 125 boys and girls who have qualified for the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick sectional competition will showcase their skills today from 1:15 to 4 p.m. in the Ralph Wilson Fieldhouse.'
