"I've started working out," said Easley, who plans to juggle his off-season between Connecticut and western New York. "Everything is 100 percent."'

Marker Governor's Plans of Retaining Bills in Buffalo Not As Expected [4:09 AM]

Marker Cuomo budget targets unions [8:04 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Despite one administration budget document claiming the state was setting aside money in an $84 million pot to help keep the Buffalo Bills in Western New York, it turns out the money -- $2.94 million -- is merely the final year of a state funding pledge made in 1998 by former Gov. George E. Pataki when the team renovated its stadium. The budget contains no indication as to whether the state will commit any new money to keeping the team in Buffalo when the stadium lease expires in July 2013.'

Marker Sudden impact - rookies contributed in 2011 [7:39 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '“Our rookie class we’re real tight,” said top pick Marcell Dareus. “It’s not just us, but we kind of put it on ourselves to help turn this team around. The best way to do that is to stick together and just grind it out and make sure you’re right there with a veteran doing what you’re supposed to do.”'

January 17, 2012

Marker Marv Levy can't even write himself a happy ending [9:44 PM]
Los Angeles Times reports: 'Who decides to become a novelist at age 86? "I don't feel a day older than 83," he says, and if you ask him if someone wanted him to coach again, he'd be on the way."'

Marker NY budget proposes millions to keep Buffalo Bills [1:57 PM]
AP reports: 'The team would be eligible for part of an $84 million fund to be shared by several economic development interests. A specific amount hasn’t been determined.'

Marker Reviewing Fitz's 1st full year as a starter [1:56 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '“I’ve got no reservations about Ryan,” said Bills GM Buddy Nix. “He had some bad games. The thing we know for sure is that we’ve seen him do it. We’ve seen him have the good games. He’s what we thought he’d be. If we put good people around him we can get to the dance with Ryan.”'

Marker Bills Year in Review: Pass Rushers [4:39 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'The Buffalo Bills pass rush was essentially non-existent through 14 games of the 16 the franchise played in the 2011 campaign.'

January 16, 2012

Marker Balancing Act [7:02 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'Fred Jackson is a league MVP caliber player. He’s not just good. He’s not just productive. He’s dynamic. Finally with a full opportunity to show it he put his whole game on display and Buffalo is now the envy of every offensive coordinator in the league who would love to have him.'

Marker Buffalo: A city cursed with bad sports luck [6:42 AM]
Dunkirk Observer reports: 'As far as cursed sports cities go, Buffalo has disappointingly climbed up the list.'

January 15, 2012

Marker Free market economy [3:47 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Aside from Johnson, however, the Bills have only one other uncontested starter on offense or defense set to hit free agency. That is tight end Scott Chandler. The contract of veteran place-kicker Rian Lindell is up. So is that of left tackle Demetrius Bell, who started six games in 2011. After that, all the Bills' unsigned players set to become unrestricted free agents are backups.'

January 14, 2012

Marker Wood works to be ready for Bills camp [3:42 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"I'm walking around fine," Wood said. "Rehab is progressing well. I met with the doctors and they said it looks great for six or seven weeks. I've got a lot of rehab ahead of me but I obviously won't be back for OTA's or anything but I'll be around town. I just hope to be back for training camp."'

Marker David Lee agrees to take over as Bills QB coach [3:41 AM]
AP reports: 'Lee is familiar with Bills backup quarterback Tyler Thigpen, whom he coached with the Dolphins. He’s also familiar with the wildcat offense, which Bills coach Chan Gailey has attempted to incorporate into his attack over the past two seasons.'

Marker Bills agree to terms with new QBs coach [3:40 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '“I’m excited and proud to be the Bills’ quarterbacks coach," said Lee. "Chan Gailey has been a successful head coach everywhere he’s been. His teams have always moved the football really well. Being able to coach under him was the difference in my decision to come to Buffalo.”'

January 13, 2012

Marker Wildcat guru Lee named Bills' QB coach [7:05 PM]

Marker Decision to be made on Parrish [8:06 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '“I think it’s a decision that we’re going to have to make about where he is physically as to whether or not we do re-sign him,” said Nix. “He’s a good player, a really good player when he’s healthy. He’s done it. We need somebody like that in that position whether it will be him or not I don’t know yet.”'

Marker Spiller closes season with a flourish [4:22 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"Everybody's been surprised, I guess, about C.J. except us," Bills General Manager Buddy Nix said. "We always knew, I think, what we had. Everybody talks about 'he's learned to run, he's learned how to run,' and obviously all of them learn things. But with C.J., the opportunity is what he needed and he got it when Fred got hurt and he's what we thought he'd be."'

Marker Bills hire UB's Inge as defensive line assistant coach [4:21 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"Coach Inge was contacted by the Buffalo Bills about joining their staff and has accepted the opportunity presented to him, which I completely understand," Quinn said in a statement. "He set the example of loyalty in this profession, he was loyal to this staff, the players and the program and did a tremendous job for us."'

Marker Mularkey sees previous stops as learning opportunities [4:20 AM]
Florida Times Union reports: 'Mularkey’s two-year stint with the Bills (which produced a 14-18 record) was rare: an NFL coach walking away from a job. But it was a complex situation that boiled down to the fact that Bills owner Ralph Wilson fired Mularkey’s boss, team president Tom Donahoe, and installed former Bills coach Marv Levy as the general manager, who then demanded that Mularkey fire some of his assistants. Rather than do that, Mularkey left in what he saw as an act of principle.'

Marker Bills hire Inge to work as assistant DL coach [4:19 AM]
AP reports: 'He’s the first newcomer to join the Bills defensive staff since Dave Wannstedt took over as coordinator after George Edwards was fired last week. Inge has no NFL coaching experience.'

Marker Nix focuses on defensive upgrades [4:18 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: 'Considering the offense made considerable positive strides in 2011 under established quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and considering the defense has now been handed over to veteran coach Dave Wannstedt, who is likely to get a pass rusher with the 10th overall pick in the draft, Nix is confident the only place the Bills can go in 2012 is up.'

Marker Strategy And Personnel [4:17 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: 'Losing Pro Bowler Williams to a foot injury after just five games rocked this group, and it never really recovered. No. 1 pick Dareus started at end and then moved inside in the team's 3-4 base look after Williams was injured. Dareus finished with 43 tackles and a team-leading 5.5 sacks. He figures to be a fixture up front for years no matter the scheme. Williams is on schedule for a return in 2012. Other than those two, Buffalo could use upgrades at both end and tackle. Edwards contributed 52 tackles and 2.5 sacks, but meaningful plays were few and far between. The Bills had just 29 sacks and allowed a team-record 5,938 yards, so there is much work to be done in the front seven.'

Marker Bills still plan to speak with Jackson about extension [4:16 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: '"Right now he's in the process of rehabbing and getting healthy," Nix said. "He'll have a physical this spring, he'll have another one this summer. If he gets healthy and passes the physical, he's still ours. We'll take it from there. We'll see what happens."'

Marker Bills Year in Review: Defensive Line [4:15 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'In terms of defensive tackles in a four-man look, or the entire line in a three-man front, I think the Bills are all set here. They may look to add a late, late round pick at the position or maybe even an undrafted free agent or two. For the most part, however, this position is set for 2012.'

Marker Nix Has Bills on Track [4:14 AM]
WGRZ-TV reports: 'Nix has always been known as a straight shooter, much like Gailey, and he openly admits the Bills weren't quite as good as their 5-2 record indicated at the time, but its only fair to point out he also thinks the Bills are much farther ahead of where they were this time a year ago than their disappointing drop to a 6-10 record would indicate.'
