Marker Should the Bills have found a way to keep Chris Hogan? [1:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The Bills made Hogan a contract offer with the lowest tender, which provided a one-year salary for $1.671 million. Had the team given Hogan a second-round tender, it would have cost $2.553 million, or $882,000 more. More importantly, it likely would have scared teams away from making Hogan a contract offer, since they wouldn't have wanted to pay the second-round compensation.'

Marker Tyrod Taylor gets Pro Bowl invite, but will not play [1:58 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Taylor would have replaced New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who is busy preparing for the Super Bowl. Oakland's Derek Carr and Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger were the other two AFC quarterbacks originally picked for the game. He wasn't shy about expressing his disappointment when the rosters were announced last month, tweeting "snub," shortly after learning Hightower and Baltimore's C.J. Mosley would represent the AFC at inside linebacker. "I said, 'damn, I didn't make it?' It was disappointing," he said. "I was hot. I ain't going to lie. I was mad. I felt like I should've been outright. It just felt that way."'

Marker NFL: Ex-Bills charge in to Super Bowl, fans need not fret [1:54 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'In the cases of Hogan and Levitre, they wanted to keep both players but in the end had to make wise business decisions as they pertained to free agency and managing their roster and salary cap. In the case of Branch, who has a checkered resume, they made a wise decision as it pertained to paying money to a problem player who was given a big contract extension only to run afoul with the code of conduct.'

Marker Taylor, Gilmore added to AFC Pro Bowl roster [1:53 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'After a slow start to the season, Gilmore played well much of the rest of the way and he led the Bills with five interceptions, most by a Bill since Jairus Byrd made five in 2012. He has 14 picks in his five-year career.'

Marker Buffalo Bills G Richie Incognito on Rex Ryan: 'That's my guy until I die' [1:50 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: '"Rex never frustrated me," Incognito said. "Listen, I'll never say a bad thing about Rex. That's my guy until I die. It's one thing to be a rah-rah guy and to be fist-pumping out there when the team's kicking field goals and not really having much success, but it's another thing to be a player's coach and to want guys to compete and to push guys to play week in and week out. I think that's what (Rex and Mike Tomlin) catch. They can relate to the players and the players see part of themselves in the coaches."'

He last coached quarterbacks in an official capacity in 1988, when he was at Southwestern Louisiana.'

WGR-AM reports: 'In his two seasons as the Bills starting quarterback, Taylor has led the Bills to a 14-14 record but has failed to get the Bills to the playoffs. Taylor is due for a contract extension at the start of the 2017 NFL year which will pay him $27.5 million in the 2017 season. The team does have the option to decline giving Taylor the extension, but he is not medically cleared by the start of the new year he is guaranteed the $27.5 million.'

That list, in no particular order, likely includes quarterback, wide receiver, offensive tackle, linebacker, and safety. The Bills will also need to address depth at other positions, but the ones listed are near the top of the list.'

Buffalo News reports: 'Fans deserve to know Buffalo’s plan, too, before deciding whether to renew season tickets. Are the Bills pushing for a playoff spot and clinging to the far-fetched notion anything can happen in the postseason? Have they accepted the reality that they’re nowhere close to a Super Bowl and require an overhaul? Are the Pegulas leaning toward another tank at your expense? I have no idea.'

Marker Mock Draft Roundup I: A look at who's being projected to the Bills [1:56 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Reasoning: "I'm a believer in franchises with new head coaches starting fresh with new quarterbacks, and it appears likely the Bills move on from Tyrod Taylor after hiring Sean McDermott. That leaves Buffalo with a huge hole and a top-10 pick to fill it. I wrote last week that I didn't think Watson would get a post-title game draft bounce, but I've heard differently from people around the NFL."'

Marker Former S Duke Williams takes shot at Buffalo Bills during AFC Championship Game [1:55 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: 'As for Duke Williams, the safety sat unsigned for close to a month before joining the Indianapolis Colts in December. He appeared in the Colts' season finale, but did not record any stats.'

Marker Bills Q&A: Break down of Bills offensive coordinator Rick Dennison from Denver [1:54 AM]
Batavia Daily News reports: ' Dennison prefers to fit players into his scheme, rather than scheming to fit the talent on the roster. The good news for Buffalo Bills fans is that Tyrod Taylor knows and played in Dennison's scheme in Baltimore, so the learning curve won't be quite as steep for him. If the Bills keep Taylor, that is.'

Marker How accountable are Bills players about accountability? [1:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'But how much of that is the responsibility of the head coach and how much of that should fall on the collective shoulders of the players? If too many members of the roster aren't self-motivated or willing to take it upon themselves to make sure they and their teammates pay close attention to detail and take it upon themselves to make sure they're fully invested in everything necessary to succeed, does the coach's style matter?'

Marker Five quarterbacks with connections to Bills' OC Rick Dennison [1:58 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'If the Bills do, however, decide not to exercise Taylor’s contract option and decide to walk away, here are some of the other quarterbacks Dennison has worked with in his career who could be available either through free agency or a trade. There's going to be plenty of cornerbacks available in this draft that can help. This is a strong draft at a variety of positions. It's a strong defensive draft. Twenty-one of the 32 players in the first round are defensive players. There is a lot of depth at a variety of spots in this draft.'

Marker Buffalo Bills already have their quarterback, says NFL's Gil Brandt [1:56 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: '"Whether the team agrees with me is another matter, of course, but I happen to think the Bills already have their quarterback, which is why they fall so low on this list," said Brandt. But if I were them, I'd exercise the option on the rest of the contract extension Taylor signed in August."'
