Marker Jets' Geno Smith implodes against Bills [1:42 AM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: 'How does a quarterback complete more passes to the other team than his own team? How does he throw for five yards on eight attempts? What has to go wrong for things to get as ugly as they did for Smith and the Jets on Sunday?'

Marker Bills' EJ Manuel can sympathize with Geno Smith [1:41 AM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: '"It's not much different than my situation," Manuel said. "You just have to learn from it. We're still professional quarterbacks in this league."'

Marker Doug Marrone, Bills players talk about Sammy Watkins premature touchdown celebration [1:40 AM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: '"There's a lot of people that were upset. We weren't hurt by it because we were able to come back and score, and I don't really expect a guy like Sammy to ever do that again. I said, 'There were people on that sideline' — meaning his teammates — 'that were upset. We're playing our butts off, and we don't have time for stuff like that.' Those are the things we have to work on — winning and growing up."'

Marker Geno Smith blunders help Bills cruise, and 5 observations from Week 8 win [1:39 AM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: 'Nigel Bradham has been one of the early stars for the Bills' defense this season, but Sunday was his worst game of the season by far. Not only did he miss a few tackles that resulted in big gains, but he also committed three careless penalties for a total of 35 yards in the first half. Chalk it up as a rough game for Bradham, and the Bills hope that doesn't become a trend.'

Marker Defense dominates in win over New York Jets [1:38 AM]
Canandaigua Daily Messenger reports: 'Buffalo struggled to get points off turnovers in the first half and only led 24-17 at halftime. But the Bills' defense dominated the second half to put the game away. The offensive playcalling wasn't very aggressive or good, relying too heavily on the run. The Jets have had close losses to the Packers, Lions and Patriots, so beating them by 20 is impressive. Buffalo is 5-3 going into the bye week. '

Marker Bills clearly a step ahead of the Jets [1:37 AM]
Niagara Gazette reports: 'Instead, the Jets seem to have won the battle of incompetence that has taken place for much of the last decade. Bills fans, ever on the lookout for something to flaunt, will surely take solace in that.'

Marker Buffalo Bills Week 8 Report Card [1:36 AM]
Auburn Citizen reports: 'But the Bills offense missed chances to take advantage of the Jets' turnovers. While they turned some of the takeaways into points, others didn't lead to scores. Those are opportunities the Bills need to take advantage of, especially against better opponents.'

Marker Jets fall to 1-7 as Bills cruise to 43-23 win [1:35 AM]
Toronto Sun reports: 'The Bills’ offence sure wasn’t the reason they blew out the Jets 43-23 at MetLife Stadium; they gained all but 280 yards. Rather, it was because of Buffalo’s suffocating defence and the inexplicably bad quarterbacking of the Jets -- first by Geno Smith (who wears No. 7), who might have made his last start in New York, then by veteran backup Michael Vick (who wears No. 1).'

Marker Bills trash Geno after rout: ‘We were bummed’ he was pulled [1:34 AM]
New York Post reports: '“He was just eyeing down receivers,’’ said Bills linebacker Preston Brown, who got Smith’s second interception. “We saw it on film that he was just staring guys down. When we know if you do that we’re going to jump on guys’ routes, and we got some picks in the back-end with just reading his eyes."'

Marker The Jets were favored — think the Bills knew that? [1:33 AM]
New York Post reports: 'Charles said Marrone “just put that in our minds’’ about the point spread. “But, we already knew,’’ he said. “A lot of guys in this locker room have been underdogs, so we feed off that stuff. We’re going to make all the naysayers eat their words at the end of the year, because I don’t think we’ve gotten any respect that we’ve deserved. We’re going to stay grounded and keep proving these people wrong.’’'

Marker Orton tosses 4 TDs as Bills rout sloppy Jets 43-23 [1:29 AM]
AP reports: 'Orton finished 10 of 17 for 238 yards, and Watkins had three catches for 157 yards — but was embarrassed when he was caught from behind while celebrating early on what appeared would be a long TD.'

Marker Geno, Vick struggle as Jets routed by Bills 43-23 [1:28 AM]
AP reports: 'Ryan didn't immediately announce whether Smith or Vick would start next week at Kansas City. That's a change from the past, when Ryan has often said following games that Smith would be under center. "I have no idea," Ryan said. "We'll look at that later."'

Marker Geno Smith struggles and is benched for Vick after 3 interceptions [1:27 AM]
AP reports: 'Smith had played better last week in a 27-25 loss to the Patriots with 226 yards passing and no turnovers. But he struggled to find his accuracy against the Bills, and Vick started warming up after the third interception.'

Marker Dixon starts for Bills, Harvin to make Jets debut [1:26 AM]
AP reports: 'Kraig Urbik replaces rookie Cyril Richardson at left guard after Kyle Orton was sacked five times against Minnesota. Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (hamstring) is out.'

Marker Buffalo 43, NY Jets 23 [1:25 AM]
The Sports Network reports: 'Orton completed 10-of-17 passes for 238 yards for the Bills (5-3), who forced six turnovers. Sammy Watkins caught three passes for 157 yards and a score.'

Marker Geno Smith benched after three first-quarter interceptions [1:24 AM]
The Sports Network reports: 'Smith completed just 2-of-8 passes before being benched for Michael Vick.'

Marker Bills' six takeaways seal Jets seventh straight L [1:23 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: 'Orton was just 10 of 17 for 238 yards but avoided the types of mistakes that doomed Jets counterparts Geno Smith and Michael Vick, each of whom accounted for three turnovers.'

Marker Bills-Jets: What we learned [1:22 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: '"I had a lot of opportunities early on in my career and (then) the stretch of six, seven years not sniffing it," Orton said. "So they don't come around very often. When you've got a chance to be in it in the second half of the season, there's nothing more important than your preparation and your work. Do everything you can to give yourself the best chance."'

Marker Jets bench Smith for Vick [1:21 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: 'The New York Jets benched quarterback Geno Smith after throwing three interceptions on four drives Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.'

Marker Bills Ground the Jets 43-23 [1:20 AM] reports: 'In the second half there was more of the same for the Jets, who turned the ball over again and again, but Buffalo's offense was stagnant and could only muster field goals.'

Marker Observations: Bills 43 - Jets 23 [1:19 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'They dominated the line of scrimmage, didn’t give the receivers an inch and held the Jets’ top two running backs to 50 yards on 16 carries. It was as suffocating an effort as the Bills have had defensively, and if it weren’t for a lack in preparation to contain backup Michael Vick from scrambling, the Bills would have had a perfect game on that side of the ball.'

Marker Cruise Control [1:18 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'Here's what I know. These Bills have a good record halfway through the season and are set up to be in a playoff race. I'm signing up for that all day long back when this all began.'

Marker Bills get an important win [1:17 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'The defense continues to be the strength of the 2014 Bills. Jim Schwartz' group had six takeaways, four sacks and shut down Jets running back Chris Ivory( 13 carries for 43 yards), They held the Jets without a first down on nine of their 15 possessions.'

Marker Bills in thick of playoff hunt [1:16 AM]
WROC-TV reports: 'Clearly, there are things to criticize about Sunday’s 20-point win vs. the Jets, but the good far outweighed the bad, and they find themselves in the thick of the hunt at the midway point.'

Marker Immediate Reactions: Buffalo Bills 43, New York Jets 23 [1:15 AM] reports: 'The big question: When your team gets you 7 turnovers, many in prime field position, should you win by more than 20? The bigger question: Is anyone buying into Orton as the second-coming of Rich Gannon?'

Marker Bills Took Control Early In 43-23 Win Over The Jets [1:14 AM]
Bills Daily reports: 't wasn't pretty as the Bills allowed a very bad Jets team to hang around much longer than they should have. The conservative play had Bills fans tearing the hair out of their heads as the Bills played into the strength of the Jets defense most of the game. For the second week in a row it wasn't very pretty but it was a win and this week they managed to put the hammer down and put the game away. Despite being conservative they did make two long plays in the passing game that kept the Jets from mounting a serious threat. It hasn't been easy, and it hasn't always been pretty but it has been a very successful first half to the season. The Bills have a new owner who is keeping the team in Buffalo and they are 5-3 at the bye a game out of first. It may not get any easier but it's nice to see this team in the hunt with something to look forward to in the second half of the season.'

Marker Defense Gets Six Takeaway Performance In Big Road Division Win [1:13 AM]
Bills Daily reports: 'Nathaniel Hackett got ripped all game long on twitter and rightfully so. They were way too conservative running the ball too much when the game was on the line, into the strength of the Jets defense instead of challenging the weak secondary more. They did challenge enough for two big plays to Watkins.'

Marker Bills ride six takeaways to win over Jets [1:12 AM] reports: 'It was the first time the Bills had six takeaways in a game in five seasons, and the 43 points scored were the most since a 49-point outburst against Cincinnati on Nov. 21, 2010.'

Marker Bills takeaway tally key in victory [1:11 AM] reports: '“That’s something we wanted to focus on during the game,” said DE Jerry Hughes. “We wanted to find ways to force turnovers. That’s what we focused on during the offseason for us to put that together against a divisional opponent is huge. We can kind of start to build some momentum and start putting wins together. No more one and out, one and out—kind of just really get on a roll.”'
