Marker A Brand New Trent for Bills? [2:16 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'As a whole, the first team offense looked good. Maybe not just good, how about really good. Again, it's just preseason, but it was a lot of fun to be a fan of the Bills on Saturday night.'

Marker Preseason Immediate Reactions: Bills 35, Bengals 20 [2:15 AM]
WECK-AM reports: Green has been downright awful. In one of those “imagine that” situations, a guy who wasn’t re-signed by an awful Raiders offensive line looks brutal. At the 8:33 mark of the second quarter, with the Bills having two touchdown drives under their belt, no one in my press row could recall a successful play run to Green’s side. Green is the likeliest starter on the field to be a healthy pull by Week Four.

Marker So the Bills drafted another quick healer? [2:14 AM]
WECK-AM reports: The National Football Post’s Aaron Wilson is reporting that, according to an NFL source, Easley has healed from his knee surgery and is already off crutches. While it was thought to be an ACL tear, it was not, and Easley reportedly could have returned some time in September.

Marker Big night for Spiller and starting offense [2:13 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '"We did some good things," he said. "We’ve got to make adjustments quicker and faster, and as time goes on, we’ll hopefully be able to do that in all phases of it. It’s not a point of concern, but it’s definitely something we’re looking at, and we need to make sure we start faster."'

Marker Observations from Bengals at Bills [2:12 AM]
ESPN reports: 'If there was any doubt before -- or if Bills fans were in denial and still clinging to hope Brian Brohm would win the gig -- Trent Edwards is Buffalo's quarterback.'

Marker Five players to watch [6:06 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'OLB Antonio Coleman – Coleman like most of the outside linebackers on the roster is a converted defensive end. He’s shown improvement in coverage, but it’s his explosive first step that’s going to get him the most consideration for a roster spot come next week. His performance on special teams will also be critical.'

Marker With Bills' receivers, jobs are wide open [5:20 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"I think it's pretty much starting to define itself, and it has to because after this game it's pretty much all downhill until Miami [the opponent for the regular-season opener]," Evans said. "I think what you'll see in this game is probably what you'll be getting. One of them will have to step up and make plays and that's basically the bottom line. But I think it's starting to define itself now."'

Marker Galley mum about quarterback plans [5:19 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"I can't see a lot of movement in stock one way or the other because they've all done a pretty good job," Gailey said of his quarterbacks. "That's a good thing. Nobody's moved down. Everybody's played well when they've had the opportunity so that's been a positive."'

Marker Christie excelled in the clutch [5:18 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"It's a situation you know you're getting into," Christie said. "But when you make it on the road and the whole stadium is silent, it's just as loud as when you're at home and you make it. Part of the job is coping with possible failure, and the biggest part is how you react after you miss."'

Marker Buffalo Bills not concerned with return of Terrell Owens [5:17 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: '"Every week is a learning experience," coach Chan Gailey said. "Every week is a challenge. We had pretty good challenges in the first two weeks and I thought they responded, obviously, a lot better last week. We've got to continue to get better. It will be fun to watch and see how our guys respond to this challenge."'

Marker T.O., Buffalo reunited Saturday night [5:16 AM]
Cincinnati Enquirer reports: 'Said Owens about Fitzpatrick: "He realized and saw me on an everyday basis - he saw me practice and play. I appreciate it. I was surprised because you don't find too many people who have stepped out and said positive things about me."'

Marker Letter of recommendation [5:15 AM]
Bengals.com reports: 'Fitzpatrick and Palmer have that same low-flame temperament that made them extremely close friends when Fitzpatrick backed up Palmer here in 2007 and 2008 and has kept them close to this day.'

Marker Bills secondary out to freeze Bengals' dynamic duo [1:25 PM]
AP reports: '"We don't want to go out there and just see how we match up. We want to dominate," safety Donte Whitner said. "We're not trying to play around. We want to go out there and try to solidify ourselves as one of the top secondaries in the league."'

Marker Inside slant [9:09 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: 'Nelson plans to work with noted trainer Tom Shaw in Orlando, Fla., during his month away. His suspension will cost him a reported $92,941 in salary.'

Marker Strategy and personnel [9:08 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: 'While the door is open for Maybin, Torbor's experience in the 3-4 scheme and his muscle -- he's a legitimate 250 pounds while Maybin is not -- will be welcomed upon his return. Torbor's bulk makes him much more effective at the point of attack. "We kind of knew coming in what he would bring to the table. He's helped us," said Bills defensive coordinator George Edwards, Torbor's position coach with the Dolphins. Maybin has been replacing Torbor in Buffalo's nickel package. Torbor's injury will give more run-down reps to Chris Ellis, who has been backing up Chris Kelsay on the strong side.'

Marker Notes, quotes [9:07 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: 'If he continues to progress and suffers no setbacks during the week, Lynch could be in the lineup against the Bengals, something the troubled star would surely welcome, particularly after the sensational performance by rookie first-round pick C.J. Spiller against the Colts.'

Marker Bills-Bengals preview [9:07 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '“I think we’ll be out there a little bit longer,” said Trent Edwards. “I think we’ll have a chance to find our rhythm and try to get in sync with everybody. There’s a little more emphasis placed on this game. Our game plan might be a little bit bigger and we’ve watched a little bit more film on these guys. They’ve played three preseason games already, so we kind of know what they’re doing. Again, they’re probably going to show us some different looks and we’ll be in there long enough to get our feet wet and to get in rhythm.”'

Marker Buffalo Bills turn to Roscoe Parrish for offensive output [4:02 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: '"This year I feel much better about my role," Parrish said the other day as he walked off the practice field at the end of his sixth training camp at St. John Fisher College. "I'm very excited. I'm just really looking forward to this season. Everybody is going to get an opportunity, and I can't ask for anything more at this point. That's all I ever wanted."'

Marker Bills' Moats mastering new position [4:01 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"It's been hard on Arthur," Gailey said. "A guy with his hand on the ground, rushing the passer and transitioning to linebacker is not an easy task. But he's intelligent, he works hard at it. It takes experience to line up there and have people coming at you from all different directions instead of just the offensive tackle lining up against you. He's got a lot of experience to gain in a short period of time, but he's done a good job."'

Marker Players see pros, cons in 18-game schedule [4:00 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"Obviously, 18 would be even more, I could go either way on the whole deal," defensive tackle Kyle Williams said. "Ask me after Game 17 if I feel the same way, but we're all professionals. If we have to play 18 games we'll play 18 games. Both sides would have to come to some concessions on that."'

Marker Trent Edwards trying to carve out his own legend in Buffalo [3:59 AM]
USA Today reports: '"Other than that, he has played pretty well. He is getting a better understanding of what we're trying to get done. He is a positive guy who is hard on himself."'

Marker Bills DBs ready for T.O.'s return [6:22 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '“Fun? I guess,” McGee said reluctantly. “It’ll definitely be good to see him, but it’s no fun and games out there trying to cover him. You definitely don’t want to get beat deep or beat for a big play. Before the game it’ll be fun to say hello, but during the game its business. I will not smile if a deep route is caught on me. It would not be fun and games.”'

Marker Buffalo Bills may add Wildcat to arsenal [6:22 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Edwards, for one, is excited about the prospect of watching Spiller in that situation if the Bills opt to employ the formation. "We can put C.J. in the backfield, direct snap to him and put a lot of pressure on the defense," Edwards said. "I was telling C.J. that if he goes down I might be the backup in the Wildcat. So, I was messing with him that he better not get hurt."'

Marker McCargo knows time isn't on his side [3:03 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"Once you get in a rut, no matter what you do you've got to work yourself out of that rut," McCargo said. "I've been in a rut for a while just because of injuries and other things with me mentally. But I'm just trying to get back on track. I'm healthy, which is number one. I'm just hoping that somebody will notice that I'm trying to play football and give me a chance to play."'

Marker Hardy returns to action with hopes of playing against Bengals [3:02 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"We tried to be smart with getting James back," Bills coach Chan Gailey said. "He felt great, so we'll push it a little harder [today]. He could even play Saturday night, which would be a real positive."'

Marker Bills fans' taunts not totally unjustified [3:01 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The franchise Gailey coaches is symbolic of Buffalo as a whole, a monument to mismanagement and stagnation.'

Marker Hardy hopes to play Saturday [3:00 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '“It went very well,” said Hardy. “I just started to go out there and get a little run in and see if there was any pain. For the most part I felt that the pain that is there I’ll be able to deal with it. Hopefully I’ll be out there on Saturday. We’ll see how it goes (Thursday).”'

Marker Bills have a not-so-secret weapon [8:29 PM]
Toronto Sun reports: 'Every team with the Bills on their schedule already knows that with Spiller's dynamic potential and first-year coach Chan Gailey's reputation as an offensive innovator, it is a case of when they use the wildcat, not if they'll use it.'

Marker Buffalo counting on C.J. Spiller to be a thriller on offense [8:27 PM]
USA Today reports: '"I grew up watching Warrick — that was my man," Spiller says of the retired running back. "Not just because of what he did on the field, but all the (good works) he did off the field. You never heard anything negative about him. I had the chance to meet him. Wonderful guy. He gave me some encouraging words, telling me not to worry about what people said regarding my size."'

Marker Bills WR Hardy practices for first time in 2 weeks [8:27 PM]
AP reports: 'The 2008 second-round pick had been competing for the No. 2 receiver job opposite Lee Evans(notes) before he was hurt near the end of practice on Aug. 10. The injury was the latest setback for a player who missed all but the final two games last season while recovering from left knee surgery.'
