Marker Ask Vic: Couch sitting and Willis wondering [4:31 AM] reports: Q: I was wondering what you had to say about Willis McGahee's recent development. Do you think he'll be ready to take some carries this season or will we have to wait another year to judge if he was worth a first-rounder?

A: Gauging McGahee's development is difficult, if not impossible, because all anyone has seen him do with the Buffalo Bills so far is stretch and run around in a jersey and shorts.

Marker McDaniel returns home after solid AFL season [4:28 AM]
New Bern Sun Journal reports: His agent is working on another NFL tryout. Since his last regular gig with the Buffalo Bills back in 2001, McDaniel has had tryouts with the San Francisco 49ers in 2002 and the San Diego Chargers in 2003. "I'm keeping my options open," he said. "If it happens that's great. If not I will do my best to make it work out in the AFL."

Marker Bills get some down time [5:25 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: '”We’ve been here since March and it can definitely take a toll,” said backup defensive tackle Justin Bannan, who hails from Fair Oaks, Calif. “It’s good for the guys to get away, to go back to where we’re from, to keep doing the training and keep in shape, but do it somewhere else and rejuvenate your mind. It’s more mental than anything. This will allow us to come back ready to go.”'

Marker Transcript: Mike Mularkey Q&A Session [10:03 PM] reports: 'As far as the players, it progressively got better and better and they know that, especially offensively where you're going to be behind no matter what if it's a new system or what. He didn't play well and in many cases we didn't help him,'' Donahoe added. ''But as far as his ability to get back, throw the ball, make the throws, read the defense, we felt that the skill level was still there.'''

Marker A peak at the AFC East [3:10 PM] reports: With Losman in close pursuit of his job, Bledsoe will play well in 2004 and the Bills will get close to the .500 mark. Whether nine victories will be enough to get to the playoffs is another question. The intra-division play can best be described by the Buffalo-New England games last year. Buffalo beat the Patriots in the season opener 31-0 and finished up the season losing to the Patriots 31-0.

Marker Mularkey Able to Juggle Family, Football [12:16 PM] reports: '"I do travel a lot back and forth to Pittsburgh to make sure I'm involved in my sons' lives," Mularkey said. It was comforting to hear those comments and hopefully, maybe this will be the stop.”'

Marker Bills Speak To Gildon [5:23 AM]
WGR-AM reports: '"Winning definitely plays a role in the decision making process," Gildon said. "I really don't want to rush my decision, but I'm definitely looking to make a decision pretty soon. He's a guy I get along with and as far as coming here to Buffalo, it's always nice to go somewhere where you know someone. I know him and a few guys he brought with him as well as a few players I had a privilege to play with. It helps, anytime you're out there looking for somewhere else to start over. It always helps to see a familiar face, someone you know. Someone that has gone through the same things you've gone through, and can relate and just ease the transition. From that standpoint, it definitely helps.'

Marker Bills Alumni Spotlight: Daryl Porter [1:23 PM] reports: 'After returning back to his home area of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where he has a two-year-old son, Daryl, for the past year, he has owned and operated Porter’s Place []. "It’s a sports bar and restaurant. We have a full menu, steaks, garlic shrimp. It’s pretty big, 8,000 square feet. We do a lot of entertainment, jazz bands, blues. Basically, it’s just something I had the knack for, being around people and making sure people are comfortable.'

Marker Bills Alumni Spotlight: Chris Spielman [1:23 PM] reports: '"I think that people respected the decision that I made," Spielman said. "It was an easy decision to make, but it still felt like you were letting people down. I certainly made the right decision, don’t get me wrong. I felt like the people in Buffalo, for the two years, treated me great and I loved playing there and being a part of it, but I still felt like I let them down. I guess it justified my decision to not play football, because I got a standing ovation. It made me feel good, obviously. I guess that I was accepted as a Buffalo Bill."'
