Marker Buffalo Bills 2005 Draft Preview [11:48 AM]
The Sports Network reports: 'Donahoe has indicated that he'll be seeking depth on both lines first and foremost, and the club would also do well to add some bodies at tight end, cornerback, and fullback.'

Marker Bills need to make move with Henry [8:51 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'But he'd better do something with Henry before training camp, and preferably sooner. The notion that Henry could still be a Bill next season is ludicrous. It would be bad for everyone involved, a needless distraction for a team trying to break in a new quarterback.'

Marker Henry is an ace in Bills' deck for draft [5:02 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Noted for his draft day blockbusters, Donahoe has a big ace card this year with which to work a trade and move up the draft order: disgruntled former starting running back Travis Henry. A depressed market for ball carriers and Donahoe's insistence on getting what he decides is "fair market value" for Henry have prevented a deal from taking place so far. But things tend to happen fast on draft weekend.'

Marker Bills aren't pushing for new stadium [5:01 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: '"We had no idea," Donahoe said of the resolution presented by councilman Antoine Thompson that was approved by the council. "We had nothing to do with it. It's a nice idea but it's not something we're pushing."'

Marker Bills Schedule to be Announced Wednesday [5:00 AM] reports: 'The NFL plans to announce the schedule at 2 p.m. ET on the NFL Network's signature show, NFL Total Access. Meanwhile, the schedule will be posted at in unison with its release on NFL Network.'

Marker Top Bills Selection Acquired a Year Early [5:00 PM] reports: 'So will the Bills sit and wait for the 55th pick this year? "It's great to speculate," said Donahoe. "Where is this guy going to go and who is this team going to take? Will there be trades? How will it affect the round if there are significant trades made? People get into it. A lot of our fans and the media have great ideas about it and we think we do too."'

Marker Losman working hard this offseason as he assumes starter's role [1:14 PM]
Pro Football Weekly reports: '“I’m sure there will be some Sundays that we watch the process of trial and error, and the learning curve causes us to pull our hair a little bit,” Wyche said. “Then there will be other Sundays when he’s going to make something happen out of the blue because he’s a natural at the position — a natural quarterback, a natural runner, and he can make things happen. I don’t know what it will mean in terms of wins and losses. I don’t know if anyone can predict that. … He should step right in. I think he’ll be OK.”'

Marker Bears finalize 2005 preseason schedule [12:28 PM] reports: 'Chicago will then play at St. Louis on Fri., Aug. 12 and at Indianapolis on Sat., Aug. 20 at Indianapolis before hosting Buffalo on Fri., Aug. 26 and Cleveland on Thurs., Sept. 1. All five games begin at 7 p.m. central time.'

Marker QB likes change of scenery [10:32 AM]
Portland Tribune reports: 'The lightning rod for criticism from Buffalo fans through the first six weeks was Bledsoe. “Everyone was ready to send me home,” he says. “The fans, the media — they wanted to put me to pasture. If I came out of the season with anything positive personally, it was that I was able to persevere through all that and come out the other side.”'

Marker Donahoe doesn't regret trading No. 1 pick [8:51 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"I think he could be the first player taken (this year)," Donahoe said of Losman at a pre-draft media briefing Monday in Orchard Park. "That's just my opinion. I think he's definitely the first quarterback taken, and generally quarterbacks go first."'

Marker Can Buffalo Afford a New Bills Stadium Downtown? [5:01 AM]
WGRZ-TV reports: 'I certainly don’t want to rain on anybody’s parade. Nearly a dozen new stadiums have been built in the last half-dozen years, with more coming, and Buffalo simply can’t afford one. Still, you have to give Councilman Thompson credit. There’s nothing wrong with thinking big.'

Marker Bills Talk Draft [9:49 PM] reports: '“We feel we do have a first round pick, and our first round pick is on our team and we feel good about that,” Donahoe said Monday. “Now, if the situation presents itself and it's the right player and we can make the move to get back in there, that would be great. But if it doesn't, then we'll all develop a little patience this year.”'

Marker Bills Speak About The Draft [9:47 PM]
WGR-AM reports: 'Donahoe says that there have been offers to move back into the first round from other teams, but none of those offers were substantial.'

Marker Losman Disappointed in Opening Pitch [12:25 PM] reports: 'Losman has a baseball background, having played shortstop growing up and centerfield and right field as a freshman at Tulane before giving the sport up to concentrate completely on football.'

Marker QB Thompson Off and Running in Europe [11:40 AM] reports: 'Once again the Bills Backers Germany met with Bills allocated quarterback Kevin Thompson, this time after his second win in as many games. Kevin scored two rushing touchdowns, had three scrambles for first downs, and was not picked off in a 23-10 victory over the Rhein Fire. Here's what Kevin said after the game.'

Marker Inside slant [7:03 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: '"I've always been of the opinion that we don't need a new stadium in Buffalo, we can't afford it," Wilson told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. "We can't afford $150,00 suites; they would all be empty. We can't afford to charge $60 for a ticket; we wouldn't have 25,000 people in the stands. We have to tailor our prices to what the market can afford. So far, we've been able to do that (and remain competitive)."'

Marker Strategy and personnel [7:02 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: 'Following the departure of Jonas Jennings, Mike Williams might switch to the left side. Either way, Mike Gandy isn't the answer as a starter. The Bills need someone who can step in and play on the left or right side.'

Marker Notes, quotes [7:01 AM]
The Sports Xchange reports: '"It's the feeling of the coaches and our medical people that Willis (McGahee) still has some room to improve and get stronger and obviously, get more comfortable in our offense. The encouraging thing with Willis is that each time he went on the field, he got better. I think next year we'll see the real Willis McGahee. What we saw this year was pretty good, but he's a got a chance to be even better."'

Marker Former UTEP player profiled on TV show [6:17 AM]
El Paso Times reports: 'Former UTEP football player Jon Dorenbos was featured Sunday on the first episode of E! Entertainment Television's "True American Stories" on cable Channel 43.'

Marker Bills have 55 reasons to seek trade [5:01 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Donahoe hasn't closed the door on pulling off a deal in order to get back into the first round. But while the urge to resist such a move will be like a ball bearing running from a magnet, it's very likely the Bills will stand pat, content to sip coffee and plot second-round strategy for most of the day. One big reason is the overall talent pool.'

Marker Inside the Herd: LB Josh Stamer [5:00 AM] reports: 'With coach Bobby April we can come to the sideline and tell him what we are seeing and he'll make adjustments quickly. He'll take your opinion into account. He'll let us change things on the field. There were a couple of times in games where Crowell and I just started crossing on kickoffs just to mess up the double teams. He doesn't mind you adlibbing a bit but don't mess up. He's awesome at putting you on the right match up with a guy that is similar in height, weight, strength, and speed.'

Marker Bills Team Report [7:19 PM]
The Sporting News reports: 'There is talk of moving C Trey Teague to left tackle. Regardless, the Bills have to start thinking about a successor at center. The Bills love versatile linemen, so Michigan's David Baas would be a great pick in the second round. Baas is a tough and technically sound player with experience at center and guard.'

Marker Henry anxiously waits for deal [8:56 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"I don't understand why the deal hasn't been made," Henry said. "My understanding is Arizona wants to do it player for player. There's no other holdup on their end. They don't want anything else."'

Marker Bills should get kick out of this year's draft [8:55 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Nugent would look good in Bills' blue.'

Marker Bills to get line on tackle spot at draft [8:54 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Will it be the No. 1 option on the current roster, center Trey Teague? Will it be veteran L.J. Shelton, if the Bills and Arizona Cardinals pull the trigger on a trade for running back Travis Henry? Will a rookie drafted in the second or third round vie for the job? And with Teague entering the last year of his contract, will the Bills take one of the promising centers in the draft. The possibilities are numerous.'

Marker NFL Draft: Priorities Lie Up Front [4:49 PM] reports: 'Most of those upgrades sit up front on both sides of the ball, while developing depth is the main focus at the other positions. Surprisingly some of the upgrades the Bills are looking to make through the draft are realistic even though at press time they did not possess a first round pick. The main reason is the draft lacks big name talent, and there really isn't a consensus top pick this spring. If ever there was a year to not have a first round pick it might be 2005.'

Marker Hearst headlines Bills' visitors [8:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'If he stays healthy, Hearst could be a good fit as a backup to Willis McGahee in the Bills' backfield. It's a spot the Bills are expected to address should they consummate a much-awaited Henry-for-L.J. Shelton trade with the Arizona Cardinals.'

Marker Downtown stadium for Bills is a bad idea [5:01 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Hopefully, the idea to build a new stadium for the Bills in downtown Buffalo is a Hail Mary pass by a politician who wanted to get his name in the news and will be batted down before it has a chance to be completed.'

Marker Villager recalls career as Buffalo Bills radio play-by-play announcer [9:26 PM]
The Villages Daily Sun reports: '"I got my first job at a little 500-watt (station) in Dunkirk," Miller said. "They had this guy doing basketball who was so bad that I went in to see the station manager and I told him you need a play-by-play guy. He said 'well you've never done it before Miller.' And I says to him, 'sure I have.' So he has me go into the studio and make up a game. Well I had been doing that since I was a kid, so this is no problem. I do a game and I have the owner make a 30-footer at the buzzer to win the game and he says 'You're hired.'"'

Marker Losman Opening Pitch on Hold [2:10 PM] reports: 'J.P. will return to Dunn Tire Park on Friday to toss out the first pitch prior to the team's doubleheader against the Richmond Braves, which begins at 5:05 p.m.'
