Marker Linebackers visit Bengals; Spikes checks out Buffalo [9:11 PM]
Bengals.com reports: 'The Bengals are thinking linebackers as they try to grapple with the Takeo Spikes question: They want their leading tackler back, but it is believed he was on a plane to Buffalo Wednesday to visit the Bills in what may be a precursor to an offer sheet in the next few days.'

Marker Robinson defends Bills' brass [9:09 PM]
Shout! reports: 'Robinson pointed out at the end of games, many teams were successful at running on the Buffalo defense, and so serious pass-rushing efforts never materialized. He used the Kansas City loss and the two New England losses as prime examples.'

Marker Restricted Free Agent Kicker Rian Lindell Visits [4:57 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: "It's really nice here. The facility is great; coaches and the people are really nice as well. I like the fieldhouse, it's always good to be able to come in out of the cold and get your workout in. I like the ability to be inside doing sprints. It's very convenient."

Marker Bills consider Lindell if Hollis doesn't re-sign [3:05 PM]
AP reports: 'Lindell is a restricted free agent, who can entertain offers from other teams after the Seahawks retained his rights by tendering him a $605,000 contract. Seattle holds the right to match any offer, but would receive no compensation should Lindell sign with another team.'

Marker Alumni Update: Chuck Knox [1:24 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: During Chuck Knox’s first season, the Bills went 5-11. Granted, it was a losing record, but on the bright side, seven of the 11 losses were by seven points or less. Buffalo was 7-9 in ‘79. This time, five of the nine losses were by seven or fewer points. The club seemed to be heading in the right direction.

Marker From Donahoe's Desk [1:21 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: To give you a sense of what that's like, let's take a look at some of the tasks stacked on Tom Donahoe's desk. Keep in mind that this doesn't include any of the marketing, public relations or business-end responsibilities that come with being the president and general manager of an NFL club. This is free agency, pure and simple. (Actually, simple is not at all the right word…)

Marker Seahawks Kicker Rian Lindell Visits Bills [11:47 AM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: Today the Bills are entertaining Seahawks kicker Rian Lindell, a restricted free agent. Lindell was successful on 23 of 29 field-goal tries (79.3 percent) for Seattle last season. Marker Adams, Bengals exchange figures [8:24 AM]
Cincinnati Post reports: 'Buffalo would like to pair up Adams with young and talented tackle Pat Williams, another client of Wright's. The Bills are roughly $7 million under the salary cap and could free up another $5 million if they can work out a deal to trade wide receiver Peerless Price, their franchise player.'

Marker Falcons, Bills still talking about Peerless [5:29 AM]
Atlanta Journal Constitution reports: 'The Bills want a first-round pick as part of a package in exchange for Price, but the Falcons may not be willing to part with the No. 23 choice. ''Let's not assume we don't have any interest in having our first-round draft choice,'' Anderson said a few days ago.'

Marker Bengals tackle Thornton [12:51 AM]
Bengals Press Box reports: With Raiders DT Sam Adams still unable to get what he thinks is a satisfactory offer over the long term from Cincinnati, he is set Thursday to visit Buffalo, the city, where ironically comes the buzz that the Bills could be prepping an offer sheet for Bengals LB Takeo Spikes in the next week.

Marker Mike Doser: Spikes would inject more attitude [8:08 PM]
Shout! reports: Weakside LB Takeo Spikes would add some serious swagger to the Bills' defense. He's emotional, intense and outgoing. He's not one of those players who leads by example.

Spikes leads with his mouth AND by example

Marker Cap Class Sends Media Back to School [2:29 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: When it was over, Tom Donahoe said he felt like a teacher once again, right down to the blank stares he used to see on many students' faces. "You just know that everybody is saying, 'What did he say?'" the Buffalo Bills president/general manager said with a sheepish green as he stepped down from the platform in the media room at the team's training facility.

Marker Getting a big lift [8:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Joe D's workout includes 1,000 push-ups (in sets of 200) and 30 minutes of jumping rope (usually in two 15-minute sets). As any boxer will tell you, that wouldn't be shabby for a man half Joe D's age. ("I could easily do 30 minutes at a time," he said, apologetically.)'

Marker Talks with Adams gain momentum [5:21 AM]
D and C reports: 'The Buffalo Bills’ pursuit of some big-name defensive free agents is heating up, with general manager Tom Donahoe formally acknowledging his interest in Sam Adams, Mike Peterson and Takeo Spikes on Monday.'

Falcons executive vice president Ray Anderson described the conversation as "uneventful" but was hopeful for future talks.

Marker Addition of Rob Johnson is questionable move by Washington [10:55 PM]
Pro Football Weekly reports: But I just can’t get past the fact that Rob Johnson is still, well, Rob Johnson.

This is the guy who took 80 sacks during his 20-game stint with the Bills. He took 19 sacks in six appearances with the Bucs last season and has thrown just eight more TDs than interceptions in his career. He has never been anything special in the NFL and considering the schizophrenic nature of the Redskins’ QB situation over the past year, there’s a good chance that Johnson will get to see the field at some point.

Marker Falcons trade linebacker Simoneau to Eagles [9:55 PM]
ESPN reports: ESPN.com has learned that the Falcons actually pitched Simoneau to the Buffalo Bills last week as part of the teams' discussions about a trade that would bring wide receiver Peerless Price to the Falcons.

Marker Watch for Price gouging [9:50 PM]
Fox Sports reports: 'There’s no doubt playing indoors on the carpet of the Georgia Dome favors Price. And having Michael Vick to get the ball downfield fits with Price’s speed. On the other hand, there isn’t another Falcons’ receiver who legitimately would draw enough attention away from Price. And that’s why most scouts question how Price would perform without Eric Moulds supporting him. So what’s the price? A large multi-year contract after sending the Buffalo Bills a couple important draft picks.'

Marker Donahoe not done upgrading Buffalo defense [9:31 PM]
AP reports: 'The Bills have not made an offer to Spikes, Donahoe said. ``We do have interest in the player,'' he said. ``We've had some discussion with the agent.'''

Marker Donahoe Speaks on the Record [4:54 PM]
ESN reports: Tom Donahoe spoke to the media on the record on Monday about several free agents. Donahoe said the team did have LB Mike Peterson in today and that he was still busy making his rounds with other teams. He also stated that the team has had conversations with LB Takeo Spikes' agent but that no offer had been made. In regard to DT Sam Adams, Buffalo likes him and have also been in contact with his agent.

The situation with kicker Mike Hollis does not look like it will be resolved very quickly. When asked where the team stood with the kicker, Donahoe replied "No where." As reported by Empire Sports/WNSA over the weekend, the Bills made an offer to Hollis that was not accepted. Hollis' agent, James Gaetano countered that offer which was unacceptable to the Bills. Donahoe would like to have Hollis back but admitted that he was not going to wait for something to happen and would be checking the market for available replacements if need be.

Marker Bills Introduce Linebacker Jeff Posey [1:08 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '"I got a chance to visit with coach (Gregg Williams) and I believe I'm going to have a lot to do with rushing the passer and also being a strong outside linebacker. I believe I can come in and help this team because I know with the offensive move they had last year (they have the offensive tools). I'm just looking forward to coming here and becoming an asset to this team and help lead this team to a Super Bowl."'
