Marker Lessons from Buffalo [2:00 PM]
AP reports: '``He was a great head coach, but I couldn't get my hands on him,'' said ex-Bills safety Pierson Prioleau, who joined the Redskins as a free agent this year. ``Having him in the meeting room with you, having him teaching you things on the field, having him teaching you 100 percent of the time on defense, I love that as a player.'' Williams says he has learned his lesson. He is at his best when he is hands-on, and he wasn't in Buffalo. Next time, he'll hire someone else to handle the offense so he can work one-on-one with his defensive players.'

Marker Bills release Berks products Tucker, Esposito [1:37 PM]
Reading Eagle reports: '“It's really out of my control,” said Esposito, 24. “Obviously I'd like to be on a roster somewhere, but if I'm not I'll still be here in Buffalo.”'

Marker Citizen Losman [1:34 PM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Losman didn't wait for us to ask. He tells all who will listen how much he likes Buffalo and Buffalonians. He says that's why he lives downtown year-round. And he sounds sincere - as if this kid from California really gets us.'

Marker Bills to go with young guns on O-line [8:54 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'The four O-line backups have combined for just one start in the NFL, and three of them essentially are rookies at their positions. However, the rapid progress of both Preston and Peters has been one of the promising developments of the summer for the Bills.'

Marker Question Mark starts Friday [8:53 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'If you have a question on the Bills or the NFL in general, Question Mark and he will respond to several questions each week.'

Marker Seven receivers stick with Bills [5:01 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'However, by releasing Tucker, the Bills left themselves without a single backup lineman with any experience of note. Greg Jerman is the only backup who has started an NFL game — one with Miami two years ago.'

Marker Haddad, Tucker become Bills’ cut casualties [5:00 AM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'Starting today, the Bills can sign up to eight of those youngsters to their practice squad, but Haddad, and obviously Tucker, don’t fit that criteria.'

Marker Bills Release Tucker, 13 More [4:55 AM]
The Sports Network reports: 'Tucker started 12 games as a Bill last season, and appeared in 28 with Buffalo over the past two seasons. The Princeton product's chances of making the roster were diminished in the offseason, when Buffalo signed free agent guards Mike Gandy and Bennie Anderson and drafted Duke Preston and Justin Geisinger.'

Marker Tucker And Haddad Are Not Part Of The Final 53 [7:43 PM]
WGR-AM reports: 'The Bills cut their most consistent receiver in camp in Haddad. The only thing I can think of is he's been hurt a lot while just being on practice squads during his six years around the league. He catches most balls that come his way and didn't have a dropped ball until about ten days ago when he started to drop a few like the whole corp. Haddad had two long punt returns in preseason too. 2nd round pick Roscoe Parrish is on the roster and will miss about three games with wrist surgery. Backing up Eric Moulds and Lee Evans are Josh Reed, Sam Aiken, Jonathan Smith and George Wilson. Reed's habit of dropping balls is worse this year, but he does block very well as does Aiken. Aiken had some nice catches in preseason, but he had streaks of dropped balls in camp too. Wilson pushed his way on the roster making some circus catches in camp and being pretty consistent. Smith had a good final preseason game against the Lions and had a long punt return called back by penalty.'

Marker Versatile OL Tucker among Bills' final cuts [7:35 PM]
AP reports: 'Tucker had been bothered by a back problem after having offseason surgery and missed the first week of training camp. He also missed Buffalo's second preseason game, a 27-7 win against Green Bay. He proved to be the odd man out as the Bills kept four relatively untested backups: tackle Greg Jerman, Jason Peters, fifth-round draft pick Duke Preston and sixth-rounder Justin Geisinger.'

Marker Bills waive 14 players [5:39 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '...Drew Haddad...'.

Marker Losman supports NFL players relief fund for Katrina victims [5:16 PM]
AP reports: '"I think that's something the NFL players should accomplish," Losman said. "I've been talking it over right now with a few other players to see who's going to step up and be the leader to get the voices out, to get this money accomplished. And once we get the money, we have to figure out where it goes from there ... We actually have a lot of ideas right now."'

Marker Offense sputters again in loss [8:52 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"Things never go as planned, and you've got to roll with it," he said. "I didn't think it was all that bad. It was just one bad throw. I learned today I can't baby a ball into the wind, and it took a right turn on me."'

Marker Reed uneasy with cuts looming [8:51 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"It could have been better," Reed said of his preseason. "There's some little things that I've got to take care of. But I think I got better this offseason. It's like I'm trying to run before I get the ball. I don't make sure I have a good grip on it and let it slip away from me. The biggest thing is getting over that if it does happen and just move on."'

Marker Long preseason has ugly ending for Bills [5:01 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Most disturbing — on a night when there was a lot to be disturbed about, including 13 penalties for 99 yards and a shoulder injury suffered by cornerback Nate Clements, the severity of which is unknown — was the continued lackluster play of the J.P. Losman-led offense.'

Marker Losman, Bills look unready for opener [5:00 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'With 13 penalties 3 turnovers, a 22 percent conversion rate on third down and 86 yards rushing, their performance was worthy of a sub-.500 team running for a warm bus in January, not a nine-win club vowing to take that next step by making the playoffs.'

Marker 53,713 watch Bills stumble [4:59 AM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'The galling part of this effort (?) in Buffalo’s regular-season dress rehearsal was that it was a team effort. To be sure, J.P. Losman, the second-year quarterback on whom the Bills’ offense is depending, looked awful. But so did the rest of that unit. And the defense didn’t perform much better.'

Marker Bills' starting offense comes up with a big zero [4:58 AM]
Niagara Gazette reports: 'Losman was absolutely horrible at quarterback, throwing two interceptions and almost throwing a couple more. It wasn’t the type of performance that’s going to have the fans buzzing with excitement about the meeting with the Texans.'

Marker Bills Look Awful In Final Tuneup. Clements Is Hurt [4:57 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'Mularkey has to cut 14 players by 4:00 Saturday. It seems like players helped others get on the roster by playing poorly. That still makes Mularkey's job difficult for some decisions. My 14 cuts would be 1) Kevin Thompson, 2) Jim Leonhard, 3) Jon Goldsberry, 4) Lawrence Richardson, 5) Ryan Neufeld, 6) Liam Ezekiel, 7) Wendell Hunter, 8) Jasen Esposito, 9) Justin Geisinger, 10) Dylan McFarland, 11) Josh Reed 12) Constantin Ritzmann, 13) Lauvale Sape and 14) Jonathan Smith.'

Marker Bills Lose Preseason Finale [4:56 AM]
RNews.com reports: 'The Bills appeared to tie the game on a Willis McGahee touchdown run, but a Ryan Neufeld holding penalty wiped it out. Then Rian Lindell's 32 yard field goal attempt hit the post.'

Marker Cut-Down Day is Looming [11:10 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '"He has a broken fibula up high on his left leg and a possible ankle sprain as well," Lions head coach Steve Mariucci said at halftime. "We did an X-ray in the locker room already. We are going to get an MRI in the morning just to see how badly the ankle might be sprained. Keep your fingers crossed. We should get him back sometime this year. It looks like it will be several weeks to heal that fibula, but he will be back. He is a tough guy."'

Marker Cowboys mull reuniting Price with Bledsoe [10:33 PM]
ESPN reports: Price had his best season in 2002, his only year catching passes from new Dallas quarterback Drew Bledsoe in Buffalo. He parlayed his 1,252-yard, 94-catch season into a $37 million, seven-year contract with Atlanta but never lived up to expectations and was cut this week.

Marker Garcia fractures fibula in preseason game at Buffalo [10:31 PM]
ESPN reports: Garcia was hurt at the end of a 23-yard run when he caught his left foot on the turf as he was hit across the neck by Bills cornerback Terrence McGee. Garcia, who scampered into a wide-open hole, was just beginning to slide when he was hit.

Marker Detroit 21, Buffalo 7 [10:25 PM]
AP reports: 'The Bills (2-2) have problems of their own after first-year starter J.P. Losman had a sloppy outing. Buffalo's 2004 first-round draft pick, Losman finished 11-of-19 for 123 yards, but threw two interceptions and was sacked twice while playing the entire first half. So much for the rhythm coach Mike Mularkey wanted Losman to find in his final tune-up before opening the season hosting Houston on Sept. 11.'

Marker Detroit 21, Buffalo 7 [10:23 PM]
The Sports Network reports: 'J.P. Losman led the Bills offense with 123 yards passing on 11-of-19 completions, but he did throw two interceptions.'

Marker AFC East football capsules [5:15 PM]
Sportsticker reports: 'Prediction: The Bills have talent, unfortunately they have to play the Patriots and Jets twice each. Defense will carry the Bills to eight wins while Losman develops.'

Marker Oglesby hangs on with Bills [2:35 PM]
Toccoa Record reports: 'Evan Oglesby, a 2000 graduate of Stephens County and former All-American at the University of North Alabama, is still fighting for a cornerback spot on the Buffalo Bills roster.'

Marker Bills' 'valuation' nearly doubles in 5 years [12:25 PM]
Business First of Buffalo reports: 'The way Forbes magazine adds it up, the Buffalo Bills are worth $708 million, up 11 percent from last year.'
