Marker Bills Team Report [7:14 PM]
Fox Sports reports: 'Holcomb has appeared in just 28 games in five seasons, but has been productive when given opportunities to play. Holcomb doesn't have a great arm and limited athleticism. But he is a smart player who makes the right defensive reads and usually makes sound decisions with the ball. While he's not expected to beat out Losman for the starting job, the Bills hope Holcomb will provide enough stiff competition to make Losman better.'

Marker Bledsoe couldn't complete Bills [3:58 PM]

Wisconsin State Journal reports: 'Evans, the all-time leading receiver in Badgers history with 175 receptions for 3,468 yards, is taking three classes, worth nine credits. His other classes are consumer behavior and consumer history. That will leave him six credits shy of a degree in personal finance, work he plans to complete while taking correspondent courses this summer or next offseason. "My parents always pushed me to go to school," Evans said. "I've been basically the only person in my immediate family to go to college. ... Making it as far as I did, I just think it's important to finish it."'

Marker Insurance Plan [5:09 AM]
Notjustagame.com reports: 'There are just some quarterbacks that need to have the job title backup. Holcomb is one of them, as he seems to always thrive when thrown in conditions on a short notice. His best games have always come when he has been thrown in the spotlight for relief duty, and thatís what had to have turned on the switch for the Bills to ink him to a four year deal.'

Marker Inside slant [5:08 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: 'If J.P. Losman can handle the New England Patriots blitz as well he handled the media blitz in his first official news conference since being named the Bills starting quarterback, Buffalo figures to be very successful with him under center.'

Marker Strategy and personnel [5:07 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: 'Center. The Bills have to start getting serious about upgrading their line; it's just not in the league of Pittsburgh's, Indianapolis', or New England's, the teams to beat in the AFC. Landing a veteran or good rookie would allow Trey Teague to be shifted to left tackle, making the need to re-sign Jonas Jennings a lot less urgent.'

Marker Notes, quotes [5:06 AM]
CBS Sportsline reports: '"It hurt me when I heard they said I was asking for too much when I haven't even talked to anybody. They put it out there I was the bad guy asking ridiculous money, and I hadn't even talked. But I want to say thanks to the fans. I was there when we weren't so good and there when we got to 9-7 and helped build something. I just have to move on. But I would've loved to stay a Bill." -- Unrestricted free agent LT Jonas Jennings, who signed with San Francisco.'

Marker Bills sign QB Holcomb [9:00 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Injuries hindered Holcomb in Cleveland. He beat out Tim Couch for the starting job in 2003 and probably would have kept the starting job for 2004. But he suffered a torn labrum in his shoulder late in 2003, so the Browns turned to veteran Jeff Garcia. Holcomb started just two games last season.'

Marker Holcomb leaves; CB Baxter signs [5:47 AM]
Cleveland Plain Dealer reports: 'When it became apparent that there was no sense of urgency to sign Holcomb - and when news broke that the Browns had contingency plans including trading for Seattle's Trent Dilfer - Bauer and Holcomb agreed it was best that he move on. "Kelly didn't feel good at all about the way things were going in Cleveland," said Bauer. "He felt the attitude was 'if we get him, we get him, if we don't, we don't.' "'

Marker Bills Sign QB-Kelly Holcomb [10:16 PM]
